Sullivan Should Disclose Why He Isn't Accepting Contributions from Dominion
Hello Yupette,
I did a comprehensive Web search on Dominion Resources, Richard C. 'Rip" Sullivan, and his law firm, Reed Smith. Dominion Resources is huge and so is Reed Smith. Dominion is constantly engaged in litigation and in legal matters that require Federal, state and local administrative review and Federal, state and local permits. It's difficult to determine Reed Smith's current legal relationship with Dominion and what legal services Mr. Sullivan has provided and is currently providing to Dominion Resources.
One major project where Dominion is heavily involved is collecting the 'wet' natural gas obtained from fracking shale in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, etc, and separating the liquid hydrocarbons from the natural gas and shipping the natural gas through Virginia via Dominion's gas transmission pipelines. Dominion is building a large natural gas liquification facility at Cove Point Maryland where liquified natural gas will be loaded onto ships and exported. Dominion's natural gas pipeline (once the hydrocarbons have been separated) that connects the collection pipelines from fracking wells to Cove Point runs through Fairfax County. The Sierra Club has had a running legal battle for several years with Dominion over Cove Point.
So, given that Mr. Sullivan has stated that he has no personal animosity towards Dominion, what are the reason or reasons he isn't accepting contributions from Dominion's PAC? Voters in the 48th District deserve to know.

Has to be a conflict of interest issue. Sierra Club automatically endorses Democrats to the point of completely ignoring Green Party candidates.
'Wet' natural gas from fracking is a bonanza for the fossil fuel companies - they not only get natural gas from the wells but natural gasoline.
Accident at the wellhead, gasoline, propane, butane, etc., blown all over the landscape.
Dominion probably gave at the office...Reed Smith's Falls Church office.
Dominion has a few solar projects planned but nothing on the scale of transporting natural gas from fracking wells to LNG tankers.
Nothing like exporting America's natural gas for energy sustainability given the population of the USA is projected to grow by 140 million over the next 50 years.
NOW, NARAL, Sierra Club and other supposedly-progressive non-profits only endorse fellow Democrats.
So how much forested land is Dominion destroying to install gas pipelines?
In neighboring states electric utilities can't install photovoltaic fast enough the meet peak AM and PM power demand.
And Virginia's population will grow by about 4.5 million over the next 50 years.
Northern Virginia fracked by Dominion, Reed Smith and Rip Sullivan? Why am I not surprised?
Renewable energy is a huge charade for Rip Sullivan, Reed Smith and Dominion.
Dave should have run as an Independent.
Medicaid? Sullivan will be rain making for his law firm.
Agree...Delegate Sullivan will spend his time in Richmond rainmaking for his interntional law firm. This is the political system that produced Bob McDonnell. Aided and abetted by the corrupt media.
Sullivan was elected by the corrupt Democratic Machine and the corrupt media that support the corrupt Democratic Machine.
Dave should have run as an Independent.
Yup...Rip is already hard at work in the General Assembly, raninmaking for Reed Smith.
