I belong to the Abingdon School PTA and actually live in the immediate neighborhood of Abingdon School. Yes, Abingdon will be the next Ashlawn. Wooded wildlife area between Abingdon School and the Trades Center will be cut down and the open space that's now used as an informal playing field will become a synthetic field dedicated to field sports (soccer). Soccer Moms and Dads want it lighted. Parking lot will be enlarged. Architecture of the school building may or may not resemble Fairlington's colonial architecture. At least half the space in the renovated and expanded school will have nothing to do with education
As of now, nearby residents will not be involved in decision-making for Abingdon School at all. Community representatives will be appointed to the Building Level Advisory Committee by the PTA and civic association. They will do as they are told by APS.
My child will be in middle school after this year, maybe in another school system, so none of this will affect her. However, our neighborhood is going to be 'Ashlawned' for sure. For sure I'm voting for Audrey Clement for School Board. Undecided if I'm going to vote for the school bonds.

What do you expect from the educated white trash who run APS? Same educated white trash who allowed the Fire Department to burn junk vehicles and set off explosives a hundred yards from Abingdon School just before the old fire academy was replaced by a new fire academy.
I realy resent that. As a matter of fact I were a graduate of Pubcrawl Coledge who majored in cherleading and we here at APS are planing a cool new modern campus for Abindon.

Abingdon PTA - a fashion show with interruptions to complain how run down, dirty, unhealthy, etc., Abingdon School has become and why the school must be immediately replaced by an upscale sports-recreation-entertainment center with classrooms.
Yes, John Chadwick and Scott Prisco want to bulldoze everything on the Abingdon campus....just like Ashlawn.
Residents who live around Williamsburg Middle School were lied to by APS Facilities and Operations Staff when the new elementary school on the Williamsburg campus was planned. They had to go to the County Board to prevent a big lighted synthetic surface soccer field from being constructed near their homes.

People, what can you expect from an APS Superintendent who has a Ph.D. in Recreation and, in fact, views every proposed new school as an opportunity to build a sports-recreation-entertainment center with classrooms?
Tuckahoe School is on the Sup's short list of elementary schools to be 'Ashlawned'.
APS spends hundreds of thousands of tax dollars every year applying for awards to make Coach Murphy look like a rocket scientist to parents and the sheeple taxpayers who are paying $539 million to educate 24,153 students.
APS is so dishonest that it won't admit that taxpayers are paying more than $22,000 per student per year. Do the math.
It gets worse. Two supposedly hot shot architects, John Chadwick and Scott Prisco, ignored the site plans filed with the County for Ashlawn School and created a mess to the extent that the neighborhood complained to the County Board.
Has DES taken an inventory of the trees on the Abingdon School site?
How did APS's values get so inverted to the point that synthetic surface soccer fields are automatically approved and nature study centers are put in indefinite hold?
Coach Murphy is NOT a Rocket Scientist.
Doesn't APS have an internal auditor? How about him / her investigating how and why Ashlawn became such a mess?
Does this school have any kind of traffic mitigation plan?
Retire Superintendent Murphy along with Sally Baird. He should be CEO of the Soccer Corporation of America.
