County Board Accelerates Tax, Borrow, Spend for Vanity Projects While Pentagon Slashes Budget

Hey Yupette,

Did you happen to read the front page of today's New York Times, "Pentagon Plans to Shrink Army to PreWar Level"? While the County Board and Barbara Donnellan are taking tax (via a corrupt residential real estate assessment system), borrow, and spend (including a $12 million slush fund new in FY 15) to a new level the Department of Defense is preparing to both limit pay increases and cut benefits for members of the Armed Forces and reduce their numbers

Here's an excerpt from the Times article that should give everyone in local governments something to be concerned about, but will likely have no effect whatsoever:

"Mr. Hagel will take some first steps to deal with the controversial issue of pay and compensation, as the proposed budget would impose a one-year salary freeze for general and flag officers; basic pay for military personnel would rise by 1 percent. After the 2015 fiscal year, raises in pay will be similarly constrained, Pentagon officials say."

Meanwhile back in Fiscal Fantasyland, located at 2100 Clarendon Boulevard in Neverland-on-the-Potomac, transportation planners are ready to tap into the FY15 slush fund to design multiple streetcar systems.

Later,

Peter, 22201

All the more reason to elect a Republican President in 2016 so the USA can start another war in 2017.

So, County Board approved construction of 1,000 parking spaces together with site plan approvals in the first two C.B. meeting this year? Yuppie!

Time for the Bush Family to select another warfighter to save America from the Socialists and Iraq from Al Queda.

Biggest problem with a DC-Rosslyn-Ballston streetcar is that it's not compatible with the preferred mode of transit in Ballston, the Trolley Pub.

County Board's transportation priorities? Making sure the bike trails are cleared as soon as possible after a snowstorm.

Oh, Delegate Hope pushed a bill in the General Assembly for an ethanol-powered upgrade to the Trolley Pub.

Jay Fisette, who drives a Prius everywhere except when riding a bicycle for PR, had his bicycle cult friends show up at County Board meetings demanding that bike trails be plowed first. An hour later Jay voted for a Marymount redevelopment with 853 retail, office, and residential parking spaces. Now that Zimmy has gone on to his smart growth mega buck reward, Jay has taken over as Arlington's Urban Village Idiot Numero Uno.

Meanwhile, the streets and sidewalks in Ballston are crumbling.

Also, active duty military and retirees will have to pay more for health insurance and to use the commissary and post exchange.

Next to be scheduled for RIFs will be America's biggest dysfunctional bureaucracy - the CIA.

So, they are calling out the Army to provide food assistance for at least 10% of Arlington's residents and they admit that the County's streets are crumbling because they've been spending massive amounts of money on sports, recreation, and entertainment. Why should I elect and re-elect any more Democrats?

CIA is worthless. Never mind Syria. CIA can't do anything about anything when it comes to a third world mess like Uganda, except bring persecuted LBGTs here as refugees to be low wage domestic help for CIA VIPs.

Look, it's snowing! Did you ride your bicycle to work today? If you did and the trails weren't cleared to your satisfaction call Jay at 228-3130 and arrange to attend the next CB meeting to complain.

The streets and sidewalks in Yuppieland aka Ballston are crumbling...CRUMBLING. How can they lure the 'Creative Class' to pub crawl via bicycle and trolley pub when the sidewalks and streets are unsafe for bicycles and the trolley pub?

My parents worked for the CIA and retired as soon as they could after my brother and I graduated from college.
