Arlington Greens to Support Vihstadt, Clement to Run for School Board

Hi Yupette,

Like other County Staff, I attended Bob Atkins's memorial service last Saturday. The news from the local pols who were there is the Arlington Green Party will support Independent John Vihstadt for County Board and Audrey Clement has decided to run for Arlington School Board. The Independent Greens are going to ask Janet Murphy to run for County Board as an IG on their rail, rail, rail platform. The Libertarians have already announced that Evan Bernick will be their candidate for County Board. Appears the Repubs will also support John Vihstadt.

No surprise. Independent Greens want a streetcar on the Pike.

RE - Independent Greens and rail, rail, rail - the McDonnell Administration, not the IGs, had AMTRAK service restored between Petersburg and Newport News and is working to have AMTRAK service scheduled between Lynchburg and Roanoke in a year or two.

Where are the IGs when it comes to commuter rail to Culpeper? Certainly NOT standing in front of supermarkets in shopping plazas along Route 29 between Gainesville and Culpeper collecting petition signatures.

I consider the special county board election to be a referendum on the Pike streetcar and I will vote NO by voting for John Vihstadt.

Thank Virginia DRPT Director Thelma Drake for new and expanded passenger rail projects.

There will be a meeting on January 7th in Richmond about high-speed rail between Virginia and North Carolina. Check it out on DRPT's Web site www.drpt.virginia.gov

The IGs are born-agains (pro-life, pro-military, patriots, etc.). Rail is just their slogan. Any new and improved passenger rail service in Virginia happened because of efforts by the McDonnell Administration and DPRT Secretary Thelma Drake.

I'm another fed-up Democrat who's voting for John Vihstadt. Zimmerman's Pike streetcar is going to cost closer to $600 million than $500 million.

Does anyone know if Thelma Drake will stay on as DRPT Director when McAuliffe becomes Governor?

The leadership of the Independent Green Party has the same obsession with rail as Frank O'Leary has with car tax decals.

FYI - Cord Thomas has begun a very aggressive campaign for CB.

We have enough people on the County Board already representing the interests of the business community, real estate trusts, law firms, developers, chamber of commerce, etc.

Cord Thommas = more red meat in our diet + even more taxicabs on our streets. LOL.

Not to mention local media that are de facto publicists for the local and national chambers of commerce.

Cord Thomas at least is TRYING to listen, unlike his Democratic opponents.

Janet Murphy of the Independent Green Party is a liberal. The Indy Green Party's Ron Fisher ran once for house of delegates, and twice for U.S. House in the 8th congressional district on the most liberal, progressive platform in Virginia. The Indy Green Party is petitioning to put liberal Greens on the ballot for U.S. House in the 8th, 10th, and 11th districts in 2014. Indy Greens have long called for bringing home tax dollars and troops from overseas. Since the 1990's the Indy Green Party has put candidates on the ballot for local, state, and federal office in and around Culpeper. See the Indy Green Party web page, and their history. The Indy Green Party supports rail because rail saves lives. Rail grows business. Rail creates revenue. A Vote for the Indy Green Party in 2014, in those districts is a vote for liberal Greens. Gerard Blais (34 years old) Masters Degree in Environmental Defense, is the Indy Green Party candidate the Greens are petitioning to put on the ballot in the 8th District.

More trains, less traffic? Anyone seen what happened in the Metrorail corridors over the past 30 years? More trains, way, way more traffic.

IGs are a bunch of born-agains who are military and-or federal retirees. IG Party is run by bored people who run for public office every year. No party-building whatsoever.

Janet Murphy is another one like Gail Parker who goes on and on and on with the same old same old.

She is supposedly a Human Resources VIP and an active Realtor but she has no campaign organization and poor networking skills.

I am tired of seeing these third parties dominated by closeted L-words. Same for the other Green Party. If you all are so progressive why are you living back in the 1970's?

Yeah, they get divorced and then get into relationships with women and pretend they are still heterosexual. Several local female Repub and Dem pols are also in LTRs with women after long heterosexual marriages.
