Hey Yupette,
Thanks for info about the Jumbotronzation of our neighborhoods. Know what's behind this? In the event you missed Saturday's County Board meeting, Chris Zimmerman wants his "Legacy" to Arlington to be the complete yupscale urbanization of Arlington's neighborhoods into regional party zones. Including the entire Pike corridor. That's why anything goes when comes to sector plans, general land use plan, zoning, and site plans. As Roving Ambassador for Smart Growth Zimmy isn't going to be around Arlington to suffer the consequences, nor will VIP County Staff who make the so-called "planning" decisions, don't live in the County, and are near retirement. Zimmy et. al. are seeing the County lose high-paying federal and federal contractor jobs and are desperate to keep the economic bubble growing. So their "planning" for the next 20 years involves bringing people with huge amounts of disposable income to live, play, and pay taxes of all kinds in Arlington County. Of course, as in all Ponzi schemes, that assumes there are an infinite number of people with large amounts of disposable income who want to live, play, and pay ever-increasing taxes in Arlington County.

Why did Libby Garvey vote against Zimmy's TIF taxpayer rip off on Saturday? Do the math: $400,000 to renovate/construct an 'affordable' apartment on the Pike X 6,000 'affordable' apartments = $2.4 billion.
County Staff VIP 'decision makers' who facilitate GLUP, sector plan, zoning, and site plan changes to completely urbanize Arlington mostly live in FC and eastern Fairfax County and want Arlington to be their 'downtown'.
Legacy? Zimmy, Hynes, and others want the B-R corridor, Shirlington, and the Pike Corridor to be a legacy to their yuptard brats. Places where 20-something yuptards will be safe while they party until they puke.
It gets worse. Google "festival streets" and "linear parks".
I nominate Chris Zimmerman for Arlington's Urban Village Idiot In Chief.
Well, yeah, if you make over neighborhoods into regional party zones you have to install Jumbotrons to flash the Yups warnings to not drink and drive.
Why do you need a Jumbotron for a local festival? You don't.
Chris "Party's Over Here" Zimmerman and the other members of the CB "Party Till Ya Puke" Caucus, Whitlow's Mary Hynes and Cinco De Mayo Tejada want to make regional festivals Arlington's growth industry.
Read the staff report for Item 20 on tonight's CB consent agenda - multiple Jumbotrons installed at events in your neighborhood park, aka regional festival site.
FYI, NONE of the County Staff who sign off on these staff reports lives in Arlington County.
