Gas Guzzlers Fuel Fisette's Expensive Pet Projects

Hey, Yupette,

Wonder where 'Gentrification Jay' aka 'Gourmet Jay' aka 'Giveaway Jay' Fisette gets the money to fund his pet sports, recreation, and green charade projects? No brainer. Just look at the new car and used car lots around Arlington. Full of expensive new and used vehicles. Like the Mercedes SUVs stored in the former Arlington Funeral Home parking lot. Sticker price averages $60,000. Sales tax is 6%, personal property tax is 5%. Do the math. Same Jay Fisette who votes to spend $3 million a year promoting a car free diet and will vote to approve between 4,000 and 5,000 new vehicle parking spaces in new parking garages this year. What will Jay do for an encore if he's re-elected? An aquatic center and live theater in every re-developed neighborhood? With 3,000 new parking spaces under the mixed use unaffordable housing, and commercial buildings that have a 40% vacancy rate? Nothing would surprise me, considering the extravagant manner Jay's spent tax dollars so far.

Green Charades? Like Fi$ette being endorsed by the $ierra Club whose wealthy members buy and drive gas guzzlers?

Anyone know how much Vornado had to pay Jay's domestic partner aka spouse in 'management consulting fees' to get a corporate welfare steal to redevelop Crystal City?

Two new live theaters + cost overruns on Pike streetcar + cost overruns on Aquatic Center = ?

About $15 million for each of the live theaters, about $100 million cost overrun for the Pike streetcar, about $30 million cost overrun for the Aquatic Center.

You forgot the canine recreation, fitness, and education center in every neighborhood...at $2 million each.

Jay Fisette and Robert Rosen have become millionaires many times over because of Jay's tenure on the County Board.

Arlington's future = an expensive mess. People and vehicles of all types competing for street and open space access.

Before Vornado there was Boeing.

Office vacancy rate is more than 20% right now.

Sales tax on a $60,000 SUV is $3,600 and first year's personal property tax is about $2,700.

Re-Elect Jay Fisette and your residential street may become a public park...next 'smart growth initiative' in the works.

You forgot to mention the extravagant public art projects awarded to Jay's and Rob's arts crowd cronies via the County Board's consent agenda.

You forgot to mention Giveaway Jay arranged a $250,000 gimme, aka grant, aka gift to the $ignature Theater to pay back taxes.

First residential streets to be converted into 'open space' will be in Rosslyn.

even a chamber of commerce / county board flunky like scott mccaffrey is becoming concerned about the commercial real estate 'bubble'.

Next residential streets to be converted into parks will be along the Pike.

Take a look at the slightly-used car lots an 10th Street. Packed with recent vintage gas guzzlers.

"Smart Growth" isn't an environmental charade..it's a total environmental fraud.

How are parking garages full of SUV gas guzzlers in in-filled neighborhoods related to "Smart Growth"?

You forgot to mention Jay Fisette's Citizens Environmental Task Force charade and Rob Rosen's corporate clients - Dominion and National Rural Electrification.

Like Fi$ette, almost all of the County Government VIPs are a bunch of modern Carpetbaggers from the Rust Belt who are making big $$$ from the Reconstruction of Arlington.

Anonymous said...

County government is completely corrupt, if you haven't figured it out by now. All that's missing are the numbers - who gets paid off how much to do (or not do) what.

Anonymous said...

Carpetbagging VIPs in County Government? You got that right. And they all got a second and third home up North for vacation and retirement.

Anonymous said...

Carpetbaggers? Seen any REITs from South of the Mason Dixon Line getting corporate welfare steals from Giveaway Jay?

Anonymous said...

Next term Jay will convert your little neighborhood park into a canine spa for "only" $3 million.

Anonymous said...

Next term Jay will 'Clarendonize' the Lee Highway corridor.

Anonymous said...

Also Jay and the other carpetbaggers will take initial steps to Clarendonize Westover.

Gotta fill those 3,000 to 5,000 new parking spaces every year under new buildings with expensive new vehicles.

Title of this thread should be "Smart Growth Sucks...Here's Why".

'County Staff' are mostly worthless on-the-job-retirees who don't live in Arlington and plan their retirements at 'work' when they aren't 'planning' the in-fill urbanization of your residential neighborhood and defending their urban village yuppification by trolling on ArlNow.

So, where are the Republicans? Clipping the coupons on their AAA Arlington bonds.
