Hey Yupette,
Thanks for this blog and for giving us an alternative to the same-old same-old propaganda from 2100 Clarendon Boulevard.
I did a Web search on the name "Richard L. Connor", who apparently controls the Sun Gazette and other local newspapers formerly owned by American Community Newspapers.
First thing that popped up was this: "Maine Today Media accuses former CEO of stealing $500,000".
Oh, Rich Connor was also sued by Wilkes-Barre Publishing for $250,000 that he allegedly misappropriated while running the Wilkes Barre Times-Leader.
So what does Rich want from the Sun Gazette?
Isn't it enough that Northern Virginia's premier Nanny Newsie (sorry Patch editors) Scott McCaffrey is on the executive committee of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce? How far are the plutocrats going to take the local media anyway? I'm surprised the weeklies and their blogs aren't running full page infomercials from REITs that are looking to totally urbanize inside-the-beltway. Stay tuned.

Rich rides with the horsey set in M'burg and nationally. Takes a lot of disposable income to do that.
Scott McCaffrey has a 6-figure income and receives a substantial year-end bonus. The previous owner of the Sun Gazette was another pirate crew.
Plutocrats? No fooling. It was obvious (to me, anyway) that the Washington Post Corporation was going to have to get out of the newspaper business if the Graham family wanted to engage in for-profit higher education and play the re-development game with the REITs.
Rich Connor's three priorities over the past decade have been $, $$, and $$$.
Previous pirate crew who owned the SG tried to use a federal bankruptcy court to stiff the small business owners who provided goods and services to their newspapers.
What about Nannie Newsie Extraordianire Nick Benton, the City of Falls Church Reitminister of Propaganda?
Re - Rich Connor, if you think betting on the ponies is expensive, try owning a few.
Bonus points for Nick Benton, every issue of the Falls Church News-Press is approved by the Eighth District Democratic Committee.
After Frank O'Leary's office receives a comprehensive audit the audit team should move on to County Manager's office and do a comprehensive audit on the County's Propaganda Team. How much staff time is spent writing the propaganda the Sun Gazette prints as 'news'?
Only goes to prove that, to the media VIPs and the pols they promote, we're all sheeple who need and deserve a good fleecing every so often.
Wasn't Scott McCaffrey featured in the "Jane Barcroft" local mystery novels as the intrepid reporter who covered a county populated by denizens right out out of the Dick Tracy comic strip?
Denizens? Like the HR aka HRH crewe operating out of Dallas that buys local newspapers like the SG?
Denizens? Like Horseface Connor?
Safe bet the media chamber of commerce boosters will be outta here about the time their pals from the REITs submit site plans for the redevelopment of Nick's and Scott's residential neighborhoods.
"Fleece the Sheeple"? Like the Yupster Affordable Housing Program at Arlington Mill, financed by Arlington's taxpayers?
What you won't see reported in the Sun Gazette: County Board has been meeting all summer with plutocrats from the REITS when individual CB members haven't been tending their offshore assets while on vacation.
I thought Jane Barcroft was Horseface, not in her novels of course.
Arlington Yuppie Mill was the last straw, I'm voting yes on the Green Party's housing referendum. Outrageous that retail and restaurant employees can't afford to live in county-owned housing a hundred feet from where they work. Only goes to show the local media are shills for the politricksters and developers who want to gentrify me out of my own home.
I have to go with AOL-Patch-Huffington Post as the biggest bunch of Nanny Newsies, nationally and locally.
Denizens? Why doesn't AOL-Patch-Huff Post Editor Jason Spencer follow the denizens of AOL - Steve Case, Ted Leonsis, and Jim Kimsey - around for a few days? No wonder half the Patch staff were laid off, how much interest is there in 'homeless man steals food from convenience store' as a staple of Patch reporting?
AOL denizens? While he's at it, Jason Spencer should check up on Ariana Huffington.
Arlington Yuppie Mill? Arlington County Manager and her staff (who live in Fairfax County) overruled County Board Chair Tejada (who lives in Arlington when he's not in Central America) about making volunteers and other visitors pay for parking at Arlington Mill. In answer to the perennial question - who really runs Arlington County?
Everything in this tiny County is controlled by non-residents. I'm sick of it.
So where did the nanny newsies who own the Sun Gazette move its local offices, which were formerly in Springfield? To upscale McLean, of course.
Were any of the allegedly misappropriated funds ever recovered by the complaintants / plaintiffs?
Apparently Maine Today submitted a claim to its insurance carrier and the claim was paid.
Only a matter of weeks before we know what Jeff Bezos has in store for the Post. Maybe he could start by ensuring enough copies of the paper are printed to meet weekday demand?
Jeff Bezos a Nanny Newsie from Seattle? Stay tuned.
