It's only a matter of a few months before the Washington Post is owned by Jeff Bezos. So what's Jeff Bezos like? Short answer, he's an Ivy League Yupster who's looking for a big life change - from tech to politics. Plus, working conditions in Amazon warehouses are dismal and Amazon workers are inundating the media with complaints that Amazon is the 'WalMart of the Web'. Jeff and Amazon need the kind of PR right now that only the ownership of a major national newspaper can provide. Jeff's also impressed by the social position and political contacts Don Graham's accumulated over the past couple decades he's run the Post. Watch for Jeff to shelve his esoteric projects in order to spend his time mixing with the movers and shakers.

Fortunately, my only experience so far with a Kindle was trying to make a demo unit at Barnes and Noble work to the point where I could read the novel that was stored in memory.
Bezos has grown immensely wealthy from the labor of a huge temporary workforce in areas with double-digit unemployment...15% and up.

Kaplan U. also created a huge number of former students who dropped out and defaulted on their student loans.
And another huge number who dropped out and are paying off their student loans.
There's a Kindle in my future? It's hard enough reading the Post on-line via my laptop with a 17" high definition screen.
Bezos will put the Post entirely online. He can't market people who buy the paper via vending boxes.
Don Graham and Jeff Bezos. What a pair of Ivy League Elitists. Anyone else notice that Kaplan is located in the same places where Bezos and other on-line plutocrats have located their warehouses aka fufillment centers?

What next from Bezos Interplanetary? How about -- Jeff pitches taking over and privatizing the U.S. Postal Service to his fellow tea party libertarians in Congress.
Much of the recent Washington Post-Kaplan PR consists of making a lame defense for the high student loan default rate of Kaplan U. drop-outs.
Washington Post Corporation has owned Kaplan for how long? But if you look at the graduation rates and student loan default rates for most Kaplan campuses, they are dismal. Where is the media concern about the for-profit colleges that can't educate?
Jeff and Don fleece the sheeple both ways, at work and at school.

The self-righteous Pulitzer Prize journalism at the Post has been subsidized for more than a decade by Post Corporation-Kaplan fleece-the-sheeple schemes. Three years ago Graham and others in the industry even had the Obama Administration water down new regulations aimed at stopping abuses by the education for-profits (in return for what from Graham and the Post?).
Surprise, surprise, the Obama Administration announced a new get-tough approach for higher education financing, based on outcomes, at the same time Graham announced the Post's sale to Bezos.
It will be interesting to watch Kaplan's future unfiold once Graham won't have the Post around to intimidate the pols who write the legislation that regulates for-profits like Kaplan.
Anyone want to speculate how successful labor unions like the Teamsters will be organizing workers at Amazon's warehouses?

Pleze don't be so down on Kaplan U. Before I was a student there I culd not reed or rite at all. Now I are a intern at the Wash Post who gets to pick which politicans gets re-elected.
Yesterday the Post reported that, surprise, surprise, private colleges don't want the feds penalizing them for not educating their students.
Question has to be asked - how many functional illiterates is Kaplan admitting and then flunking after a year because they're illiterate?
