'Pave the Bay' $ierra Club Endorses Fi$ette

Hey Yupette,

Bad enough that Jay Fi$ette just voted for a site plan that includes an energy pig building with 885 parking spaces in parking garages under the building. Now he's been endorsed by the 'Pave the Bay' $ierra Club. Those lovable environmentalists who are destroying Chesapeake Bay, McMansion by bayfront McMansion, Marina by bayfront Marina, while telling Arlingtonians (who live 70 miles from the Bay) that we can't spend enough on wastewater and stormwater treatment. Then there's the Columbia Pike $treetcar which would (like the rest of Arlington) be powered by electricity generated by nuclear and combustion, much of the combustion derived from burning 'mountaintop coal'. Face it, the $ierra Club and Fi$ette are nothing but wealthy Republicrat elitists who derive power from destroying the environment, while brainwashing the sheeple into believing otherwise.

Want to be truly appalled? Do a Google search on 'Annapolis waterfront property' and 'Chesapeake Bay waterfront property'.

Chesapeake Bay's environmental future...WHAT future?

Anonymous said...

Don't forget to include the docks behind the McMansions (not far from the septic system fields and well-fertilized lawns), with boats leaking oil into the Bay and its estuaries.

You forgot to mention all the runoff from the pavement.

"Wealthy Republicrat Elitists"? You mean like Cheney and Rumsfeld, who are the Bay's poster children for conspicuous environmental destruction?

You Know Who said...

ME a Stooge for the anti-Environment Chamber of Commerce and Pave-the-Bay Real Estate Board? You must mean the $ara$ota $cott who works for the Williamsport Sun Gazette.

How many shorefront properties do Jay and Rob own? Just wondering.

Sierra Club Elitists are equal opportunity environmental predators. Mountains, seashore, islands, streams, lakes --- all the same to them as "upscale lifestyle opportunities".

Yes, Arlington is 70 miles from the Bay. Moreover, Arlington is selling water pollution credits to jurisdictions upstream and downstream from us on the Potomac so those jurisdictions can delay upgrading their wastewater treatment plants. Is 'environmental protection' as defined by the Sierra Club an oxymoron? Sure seems that way to me.

We're not Elitists. Non-resident County Staff are installing water-efficient community spray parks for the lazy and shiftless Arlington residents who can't afford vacation homes on the water like the VIP decision makers who run County Government from our homes outside Arlington.

Anonymous said...

Let me guess who are selling water pollution credits to jurisdictions upstream and downstream of Arlington? The VIP County employees who live upstream and downstream?

Scott McCaffrey can't risk losing his position on the Chamber of Commerce's Board or ad revenue for his biased and opinionated newspaper/newsblog (nicknamed the 'Sun-Fisette') by offending the real estate interests (which spend large amounts for advertising) and corporations and their Sierra Club shills who are destroying the Bay and its estuaries. McCaffrey should be a case study about conflict of interest journalism and nanny journalism in J-school curricula.

Anonymous said...

The editors of the other major local news bloggers who accept paid advertising, Ja$on $pencer and $cott Brodbeck, are not far behind $ara$ota $cott McCaffrey.

Anon., please don't dignify shills like Scott McCaffrey by referring to them as 'journalists'.

Thanks to Cindy and others at AY for this blog.

In fact, many VIP county employees who are involved with the environment at work own beachfront homes as described above.

Anonymous said...

Yes, big secret about the Sierra Club is the Sierra Clubbers live on the shore of the Bay and its estuaries they are allegedly trying to "protect" by lobbying Arlington to treat waste water and storm water to near-drinking water quality.

Anonymous said...

Way too many important decisions are being made for Arlington residents by people who don't live in Arlington.

Anonymous said...

What passes for "journalism" in Arlington is basically informercials for the status quo. Scott McCaffrey is so insipid he's beyond being a stereotype and has become a caricature, a throwback to the hacks of a hundred years ago who H.L. Mencken described in his memoirs. As in Baltimore circa 1910, the local political system is rotten with corruption but what interests the local newsies is where the can find the best free food.

Most of the VIPs are going to retire to some ocean (lake, bay, river,) front home in a few years and many will own boats or have friends and family who own boats. So, what can you expect?

Anonymous said...

Thanks for pointing out what 'Environmentalism' is supposed to be about in this blog.

Anonymous said...

Think McCaffrey is a turkey? Do a Google search on the Sun Gazette's owner --- Richard L. Connor.

Anonymous said...

OMG, I just did. No wonder McCaffrey doesn't report the antics of the pirate crew that runs Arlington.

Can you spell c-o-r-p-o-r-a-t-e p-i-r-a-t-e ?

How about Jason Spencer and the Patch? If AOL - Huffington - Patch aren't the worst in journalism they're close to the bottom.

Anonymous said...

What the diff between Scott Brodbeck / ArlNow and Jason Spencer / Patch?

Mega LOL

Did someone mention Governor McDonnell's nickel and dime conflicts of interest? Maybe it was Scott McCaffrey in the Sun Gazette.

Only goes to show Arlington residents are second class citizens in our own county.

Chesapeake Bay Founbdation Sucks, Here's Why: said...

Never mind the Sierra Club, Chesapeake Bay Foundation is so anti-environment it's frightening. The Elitists who control CBF are responsible for the "Save the Bay" charade that has, in fact, Paved the Bay. They have a lot more power over Bay development than the Sierra Club. Do you think the thousands of McMansions right on the shore of the Bay could have been constructed without CBF's tacit approval?

Anonymous said...

CBF only gets concerned about mega-development on the Bay that threatens the quality of life of CBF members who own McMansions on the Bay.

Anonymous said...

So where do you think all the Smart Growth Elitists spend weekends and vacations? Cooling off at the neighborhood spray park?

Anonymous said...

CBF is a massive Save the Bay for the Wealthy Elite lobby, with major operations on the Hill and in Richmond, Harrisburg, and Annapolis.

Anonymous said...

Nothing like spending the weekend on your 9 acre Bay shore estate after a hard week lobbying the likes of Zimmy and Fisette to spend another $500 million treating storm water to drinking water quality.

Anonymous said...

People who control the lives of Arlington residents spend weeknights in their luxury suburban enclaves, typically in Fairfax County, and weekends and vacations in their second luxury homes, typically right on the Bay.

Anonymous said...

Together with the media VIPs who promote the 'Save the Bay' charade while realizing major ad revenue from paving the Bay.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for this blog. Anytime I start to believe any of McCaffrey's Chamber of Commerce / Board of Realtors / County Board propaganda I will Google "Richard L. Connor".

Anonymous said...

Republican Elite, like Dick Cheney and the late Phil Merrill, turned the Bay into a playground for the wealthy. Check out the CBF's recent benefactors.

Anonymous said...

You forgot personal watercraft powered by 2 cycle engines that put lots of oil into the Bay.

Anonymous said...

So this the the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's and Sierra's Club's "plan" for saving the Bay -- jurisdictions on the Potomac massively treat waste water / storm water and Sierra Clubbers and CBF members who live on the Bay have a good old time in their shoreline McMansions?

Anonymous said...

Sierra Club? Like Country Club?

Anonymous said...

As a matter of fact, Jay Fisette IS a Country Club Democrat.

Anonymous said...

Ask Scott McCaffrey about the last couple of years American Community Newspapers owned the Sun Gazette.

Anonymous said...

So where will $ara$ota $cott McCaffrey retire to? Upscale $ara$ota, of course, where his family already lives.

You'll find him at the local all-you-can-eat-for-$4.95 buffet, when he's not using his press credentials to graze for free at some real estate or chamber of commerce event.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for this blog. The Sierra Club and Chesapeake Bay Foundation are environmental greenwashers and fraudsters, aided and abetted by their media shills.

I want a federal investigation of this entire water quality charade whereby urban areas on the Potomac like Arlington have gold-plated wastewater treatment plants while the wealthy elitists who live in 20-room McMansions on the shore of the Bay get away with a huge septic field under a well-fertilized lawn draining right into the Bay and a 50 foot boat leaking fuel and oil into the Bay besides.

Anonymous said...

It works like this...the wealthy elite who live on the Bay have a waste water quality rating of 0/10. The sheeple who live in Arlington have a waste water quality rating of 10/10. So the average waste water quality rating for both the elitists and sheeple is 5/10.

Stay tuned for spending $568 million more to treat Arlington's storm water to a quality rating of 10/10.

Anonymous said...

I DON'T want to be charged for stormwater treatment, since I live in a small home on a large lot with a gravel driveway and water that drains from the roof onto the lawn.

Anonymous said...

Save the Bay? Visit Kent Island which SHOULD be a National Wildlife Refuge but is a suburban sprawl mess and an environmental disaster.

Jay Fisette and other County Board members have taken turns being on regional boards responsible for setting growth and environmental policy. So he's absolutely complicit in the "Save the Bay" charade.

Anonymous said...

How much do the federal, state, and local 'environmental' bureaucracies cost us?

Anonymous said...

Arlington's Department of Environmental Services in FY 2014 will cost taxpayers $79.2 million plus $8 million for stormwater management.

Anonymous said...

FY 14 budget for Maryland's Department of the Environment is $387 million.

Anonymous said...

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency budget for FY 14 is $8.2 billion.

Anonymous said...

Next County Board environmental charade --- traveling CB Meeting on August 6th to check out light emitting diode (LED) streetlights.

Anonymous said...

Charade? Appears the real purpose is for Fi$ette to campaign in neighborhoods that are hosting National Night Out activities.

Anonymous said...

Appears the budget for Virginia's Department of Natural Resources will be about $400 million in FY 14.

Anonymous said...

You have add money spent on environmental education, which may be in education budgets.

Anonymous said...

Kent Island? What a mess. How many Sierra Clubbers dock their boats there?

Anonymous said...

Environmental Education? What Education? Educating a Yuppie brat who lives in an 6,000 square foot McMansion with Yuptard parents, two SUVs, and a sports car, a motorcycle, another McMansion on the Bay with another couple of SUVs, a boat, jet skis....etc.
