Arlington's FY 14 Budget, Another Fiscal Train Wreck

Hey, Yupette,

I've been attending the County Board - County Manager FY14 Budget work sessions and it's obvious that the FY14 Budget is going to be another fiscal train wreck, with several hundred million again going to the County Board's pet vanity projects, recreation, entertainment, and sports as in years past, while the essentials will be shorted again. Always money to be found from mid-year revenue projections to pay for cost overruns related to sports, recreation, and entertainment programs and projects this year, or be carried over to next year. Apparently it doesn't matter what Congress does and does not do to the federal budget, the County Board has it's fiscal autopilot set on tax-borrow-spend again.

Anyone know how much "walking around money" the County Board and County employee VIPs get to spend during U.S.S Arlington Commissioning Extravaganza?

At least $100,000....squirrled away in various multi-year accounts.

Squirrel away? Parks and Rec VIP employee claimed at last Thursday's budget work session she's squirreling away money to pave another park with a synthetic playing field.

Agenda Item 13 - Funding Request for Neighborhood Conservation(NC) Program Projects: Approve $2,514,204 for five neighborhood infrastructure projects like street lighting. The cost of the bureaucracy that oversees the NC program exceeds the funds dedicated to neighborhood projects.

Thanks for this blog. Where are the so-called 'fiscal conservatives' and 'taxpayer advocates'? They are certainly not at County Board meetings speaking out about waste, mismanagement, and fraud.

Maybe they're moonlighting as "associates" at Healthy Companies International, providing "consulting services" for the REITS and the VIP corporations like Dominion and Vornado.

There are dozens of County employees providing 'consulting services' on the sly, frequently from 2100 between 9 and 5.

Reitsfuhrer Chris Zimmerman sets the example.

How about that County Board - County Manager budget work session with Parks and Rec this afternoon? Taking $$$ from environmental education and giving the $$$ to recreation.

Did anyone mention the U.S.S. Arlington? Recessed County Board Meeting March 19m 2013: Agenda Item 27 - Transfer of $50,000 from General Revenue Funds to the Navy League to construct a Tribute Room aboard the U.S.S Arlington.

Latest from 2100...money will be moved to the Artisphere from at least a dozen multi-year accounts to keep it going.

Does it bother you that the County Board spends $700,000 without a thought on renovating a synthetic surface soccer field while ignoring the security concerns of people who live next door to the new homeless shelter, the residents who live next to the closed Harris Teeter in Potomac Yards, the residents who want to see more, not less, tax revenue spent on environmental education?

How much does Mary Hynes's PLACE Propaganda Initiative cost Arlington Taxpayers? You know, the Yups get to party until they puke in Mary's neighborhood while the adult residents are supposed to be nicey-nice, tolerant, understanding, and so on.

I was under the impression that there would be NO public funding of anything directly related to the U.S.S Arlington. How much have all the U.S.S. Arlington events already cost Arlington taxpayers?

Adults have been complaining about the Yups partying in Whitlows Mary's neighborhood for years.

Yes, Mary's neighbors are supposed to be civil and understanding while the Yups pee, puke, and pass out on their front lawns.

I also would like to know how much Mary's PLACE propaganda is costing us.

FYI, PLACE was secretly organised and funded by the British Government as a social control organisation for Northern Ireland.

PLACE is becoming another big Arlington government bureaucracy. How much is it costing us? Civility? Why doesn't Mary Hynes start with her own neighborhood. The St. Patrick's Day drunk and disorderly incidents in Clarendon this year were the worst ever.

U.S.S. Arlington Tribute Room? Will likely evolve into the U.S.S. Arlington Enlisted Crew Romantic Activities Room.

Question: How much are they paying off the bond rating agencies to look the other way?

Time to dismantle all their b---s--- do-nothing bureaucracies that are run by non-residents and cost us tens of millions every year.

How about today's CB Recessed Meeting where Libby Garvey went after Reitsfuhrer Chris Zimmerman regarding his bogus $1 million Pike bus shelter that won't protect Pike Riders from a half baked rainstorm.

Dismantle the PLACE bureaucracy, aka Hynes's Ignore the Sheeple Program. Use the $$$ to pave my street.

One million dollars for a stupid looking bus shelter that doesn't shelter riders. How many hundreds of millions is the stupid streetcar going to cost?

Anonymous said...

Every ADDITIONAL bus shelter on the Pike will cost about $1 million.
