Time for Arlington County Employee VIP Decision Makers to Live in Arlington County

Hello,

In response to several requests, A,Y. recently researched Arlington's VIP County employees to determine how many actually live in Arlington. The answer - very few. By VIP we mean the County Manager, her deputies, assistants, and department heads with key decision-making authority over plans, projects, and agendas that determine our quality of life. Among the comments posted to this blog are several that stated: "Arlington County is run by non-residents, for non-residents".

It's completely unacceptable to us to have non-residents who live in semi-rural outer suburbs to cram as much density as possible into our tiny county to benefit REITs and developers who live in similar protected enclaves - sometimes in the same enclave. In the event you are unfamiliar with what a semi-rural outer suburb looks like, we enclose a photo of Clifton, Virginia, home of Arlington County Manager Barbara Donnellan.

Apparently it's too much to ask the County Board to require its VIP employees (many with household incomes above $300,000) to find an upscale home in Arlington and be liable to the same consequences for the decisions they inflict on Arlington residents and taxpayers.

Right on, Cindy!!! You tell it like it is!!!

Cindy, it gets worse. They telecommute from their exclusive vacation and retirement home enclaves between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

How many of these County VIP employees have secretly hung out their shingles as "Consultants" to developers, REITs, and special interest groups?

It gets worse. Some of the civic association 'community leaders' have been paid for 'consulting services' to developers who are seeking to in-fill redevelop their communities.

It's all been going on for at least 15 years, yes, it's bi-partisan.

"Consulting Services"? You mean pay-offs and graft.

If you haven't talked with the lower-paid non-resident staff who inflict the re-development corporate welfare steals on Arlington's residential neighborhoods, Arlingtonians who oppose the deals concocted by VIP non-residents are The Enemy.

The pay-to-play deals are often worked out during "staff meetings" with developers in the County Board offices or in secret meetings between the developers and County VIPs in the developer's law firm's offices.

The CEOs of the REITS live extravagantly, with $$$$ they made destroying our neighborhoods.

Barbara Donnellan has actually stated: "There is no way I would live in Arlington, no matter how much they pay me".

Meanwhile, horses are still being boarded in McLean, a mile from Arlington.

Why would Barbara Donnellan want to live in a Smart Growth Yuptard Zoo when she lives in a classic upscale Dumb Growth suburb?

Yes, Arlington residents who complain about their neighborhoods being overwhelmed are The Enemy to the non-residents in Planning, Economic Development, and the County Manager's office who wheel and deal with the out of state REITS.

Ain't it the truth!

Call Arlington County Government what it is: The Bipartisan Grifters and Grafters Coalition

Grifters and Grafters? Stay tuned for the 2013 Arlington Republicrat Grift N Graft Extravaganza in Newport News, March 29th - April 7th. Contact your local Arlington Republicrat Ward Heeler for details.

Arlington's Favorite Grift N Graft Couple? I nominate Jay Fisette and Rob Rosen.

Republicrat Ward Heelers? No fooling. Otherwise known as Civic Federation Delegates.

You forgot (as usual) to include the local media (e.g., Sun Gazette) among the Grifters.

Want to know how many non-resident County employees are just doing what they are told and counting down the years, months, and days until they can retire? Thousands.

There's a recyaling site at S Four Mile Run and Columbia Pike where contractors unload all sorts of trash and leave it for DES to clean up. If you ask DES employees why there isn't any enforcement of anti-dumping ordinances they will tell you that they don't live in Arlington and are just doing what they are told to do. Oh, the contractors who dump the trash all over the recycling site don't live in Arlington either.

How many millions are spent on having non-resident County employees stand around doing nothing while the yuptards party at all the County Government-sponsored festivals?

Anonymous said...

Hey, they need the overtime to buy big pickup trucks to drive to and from Arlington, one per vehicle.

Anonymous said...

Let me guess....the DES employees who 'manage' the Columbia Pike recycling site and the contractors who dump construction debris there live on the same street in Dale City?

What I'm seeing here - our lives are almost completely controlled by non-residents.

Anonymous said...

Correct - appointed, delegated, facilitated, and what have you, by the County Board

How many non-resident County employees sit in a County vehicle listening to Rush at Noon? Must be hundreds.

How many SOV trips in and out of Arlington every day are by County employees? Five thousand? Ten thousand? Fifteen thousand?

How many non-SOV trips by non-residents dropping their kid, or kids, off at an Arlington school? Ask Mary Hynes and Libby Garvey.
