Hi Yupette,
You covered streetcar accidents involving two wheeled and four wheeled vehicles. But what happens if a streetcar hits a bus on the Pike? Streetcars and buses would share the Pike, right?
I agree with Libby Garvey, a community discussion MUST take place regarding streetcars on the Pike, as soon as possible. Then put the issue on the ballot.
I understand the Montreal is a very pleasant place to be...June, July, and August. Chris Zimmerman should move there and work for AECOM, full time.

Yupette, that's why we have CERTs, first responders, a $15 million Emergency Communications Center, and so on.
Streetcar 28, Metrobus 0
Our beloved Reitsfuher Zimmerman will mobilize all resources available to the Reit to deal with any threat to his beloved streetcar.
Where the **** are the local media when it comes to covering the streetcar - BRT controversy? What a bunch of turkeys. Every GD little piece of nothing featured as 'news'....like flying squirrels. How about the 4 f-ing squirrels on the County Board who waste hundreds of millions on their unnecessary and expensive projects?
Anyone else see that the FY 14 budgets of the intelligence agencies are taking a big cut? How can Arlington afford all the extravagant spending for new infrastructure?

Dollars to donuts the "board" and O'Leary" will raise our taxes....again. Tax the regular people out of the county to pay for all their vanity projects. Gotta have their "legacies" before they retire somewhere else, laughing all the way to their banks.
We are literally being overwhelmed with trivia and drivel from the local media while critical issues are ignored, e.g., the massive urbanization of a tiny county by people who don't live here. Appears to be well-planned and coordinated.
Then there are the for-profit news blogs like ArlNow, Patch, and Sun Gazette which will not post comments critical of the Regime.
Streetcar Referendum - YES
Chuck Hagel served in combat in Vietnam in 1968. He is not a 'chickenhawk'. Expect him to get DOD back to defending the United States, rather than warfighting in the Third World, if he's confirmed as Secretary of Defense.
Next Secretary of State, John Kerry, is not a chickenhawk either.
Truth...major accidents will happen on the Pike if a streetcar system is ever installed.
Managements of ArlNow, Patch, and SunGazette blogs maintain laundry lists of IP addresses from where comments that oppose Arlington's Status Quo Regime are posted.
Before streetcars begin operation a group of ambulance chasing lawyers will hang out their shingle and run paid ads in all the paid news blogs.
ArlNow and Patch are pathetic. Half the postings are about restaurants that open and restaurants that fail. Duh.
What we SHOULD be reading about is the effect of Pentagon and intelligence services budget cuts on Arlington's economy.
Check out yesterday's Post Metro Section to see what happened after the Red Line train crash in 2009. How many millions were paid to the accident victims and their survivors? Mary Hynes isn't telling.
Appears that WMATA paid out $1.6 million to the passengers who suffered minor and non life-threatening injuries (broken arm).
WMATA's motto when Zimmy was on the WMATA Board - Cosmetics First.
Streetcars + streetcar tracks + 10,000 more bicycles + 10,000 more motor vehicles + 10,000 more pedestrians =
One Metrorail crash - $1.6 million paid for minor injuries.
Total that will be paid out by WMATA and its insurers as result of the 2009 Red Line crash - $20 million?
Remember, the ambulance chasers get 1/3.
Cost of an issue of the weekday Wash Post increased 25 cents and weekend by 50 cents. See any improvement in the content?
Today's Metro Section was 4 pages, yesterday's was 6 pages. The Post is going the way of the Postal Service.
How many will still be on the County Board in five years? Why should they care?
Another day of ArlNow yuppification boosterism...another yuppie retail or restaurant business goes out of business in the B-R corridor.
Speaking of the Pike, the two brick walls that are the 'public art' in Penrose Park are now complete. Cost the taxpayers $450,000.
Supposing a bricklayer and helper spent 40 hours per wall to construct identical walls that are not 'public art' that would be $450,000 / 160 hours = $2812.50 per hour for labor.
Try County Government paying $1,000 for a bikeshare bicycle for extravagance.
Stay tuned for "Kubicki Theater FY 14" at the CivFed. Civfed Delegates will again bicker endlessly about saving the taxpayers $2 million in FY 14 while rubber stamping the expenditure of $200 million on gimmes for their pet special interests.
Including $100 million per year to various for-profits and non-profits for keeping Arlington's homeless homeless.
Alexandria City Council is calling on the City's non-profits to partner with the city government to build homes for the homeless.
Only 3 incumbents remained on Alexandria City Council after last year's elections.
There is also significant resistance in Alexandria to the bicycle fanatics' agenda.
So, $100 million is spent by county government, for profits, and non-profits every year keeping 450 homeless people homeless? That's more than $22,000 per homeless person per year. How sane is that?
Fi$ette has got to go. We can't afford more Neverland on the Potomac.
you miscalculated. $100,000,000 / 450 = $222,222
Will the Republicans field a C.B. candidate?
About $222,000 is about right, there's at least one social worker for every homeless person in Arlington, plus all the government programs and all the non-profits.
Plus all the overhead costs for all the do-gooders.
What's the alternative to Fisette?
