County Board Reacts to Special Election - Expedites Street Paving

Hi, Yupette,

The County Manager has ordered expedited street repaving in response to Tuesday's special election results and especially to Audrey Clement making street repaving a major campaign issue. A paving crew was out yesterday repaving the badly broken and potholed stretch of Washington Boulevard just west of Wilson Boulevard.

The only thing entrenched Democrats react to is the possibility that a non-Democrat will be elected to the County Board. Thanks to Audrey Clement for pushing the County Board into expediting street repavement.

A long time Dem insider told me awhile ago that the Democrat-controlled County Board would never do anything as long as they received 60% of the vote.

The County Board's urban village idiocy was becoming ridiculous.....expecting people to go out and buy bicycles to ride on crummy streets.

The paving crew just tore up the old boulevard and put fresh asphalt over dirt. I thought they were supposed to put down crushed stone first and and then compact the crushed stone with a roller. How long is the repaving going to last?

When they fix the streets I will ride a bicycle.

Never mind me hitting a crack in the street on a bicycle. How about the bicycle? Seen what new bicycles are selling for? And they all have skinny tires.

New 'street' bicycles are $400 and up at bicycle shops.

Why didn't the wise guys at Arl Now cover this? I guess they're too busy trashing everyone who doesn't go along with the Republicrat program.

Hi, I live in Wisconsin. Does Virginia have provisions in its laws enabling recall elections? Appears you have a really corrupt and entrenched government there.

No recall elections in VA. You get to argue your case against the corrupt local official before a judge who is a crony of the corrupt local official. Provided you obtain 10,000 signatures first.

Arl Now and Patch were covering restaurant closures and openings.

Arlington's bicycle groups are also in Chris 'Safety Last' Zimmerman's pockets, if you haven't yet noticed.

Audrey was pulling her campaign signs and posed for a photo on Washington Blvd. Here it is if you want to post it.

Repaving looks good.
