Hello, Yupette,
In case you want to know where the money to repave your crumbling street is going, check out Item 23 on the County Board's agenda this Saturday. The County will give an artist $320,000 - $350,000 for a 'compelling innovative design concept for the fence that separates South Eads Street from the water pollution control plant.' The length of the 'designer fence' will be 1600 feet. This will be in an area of S. Eads street where the WMATA bus maintenance facility is across the street from the wastewater treatment plant. There is already an expensive fence surrounding the water pollution control plant that was recently installed.

How many signatures are required to petition for a recall election?
Even if you obtained 15,000 valid signatures that would only put a skank like Zimmerman on trial before a judge for waste and mismanagement.
You deserve people like Mr. Zimmerman in public office if you put up with his shenanighans, year after year.
Can't they just buy a few dozen cans of spray paint and let some graffiti artists paint the fence?
They just voted to spend $2 million on Penrose Park, including $450,000 for a dumb piece of sculpture.
The site of this project is 1/4 mile from Mark Kelly's home. He should have issued a press release about the extravagant waste of tax dollars.
Yes, where's Mark Kelly been when these wasteful projects are proposed?
Mark is too busy promoting Pro-Life Tea Party federal legislation that would re-institute child labor.
This message is being circulated on the Pike; I hope readers will attend:
Please come and stand in solidarity with who are losing their affordable and moderate housing. Come to the county board meeting at 8:30am march 10 at 2100 Clarendon Blvd.
Dwellings are being sold and very many Latinos and other immigrants will be displaced, as well as others who earn less than 40k a year, as housing subsidies will cover 40% of the AMI and not below.
Also affected by proposed massive redevelopment are small businesses who will face higher rents, and home owners of modest housing who will face higher real estate taxes when luxury buildings and the proposed street car are built.
Your voice matters. Please come out and bring your children, as massive redevelopment will only affect already crowded schools that suffer from lower achievement and higher drop-out rates than those of Fairfax County.
Should you wish to speak arrive a little before 8:30am to submit a request to comment.
Peter Katz was told to 'seek new employment opportunities outside County Government'. So Arlington is seeking a new Planning Division Director.
Enough is enough. Audrey Clement for County Board.
According to the "statement of financial interests" Peter Katz filed with the County, he's made massive real estate investments in localities where he's consulted.
Libby Garvey has already committed $600 million for Taj Mahal elementary schools in deals with the County Board, architects and consultants, and Democratic insiders who control the school system.
Katz was facing conflict of interest charges regarding his real estate investments in 'smart growth' communities he promoted as a consultant to local governments.
Was Katz's County job just a bridge between a consulting gig in Sarasota and a consulting gig in NoVa? If he's going to be consulting in NoVa who's he gonna work for?
New Urbanism? What a charade. It's just what critics have always claimed - re-segregation through gentrification.
New Urbanists are mean, greedy selfish hedonists. If you don't believe it, check out their rants on the local blogs that accept paid advertising.
Check out the hedo yuppie rants on Arl Now.
Has Mark Kelly said anything about this?
