Garvey Has No Problem With County Board-School Board Extravagant Spending

Hi Yupette,

I attended the County Board - School Board budget work session tonight at the School Board. Libby Garvey went along with County Government's extravagant spending agenda. It was as though she was appointed to the County Board on Tuesday by Zimmerman.

The most shocking discussion occurred when the County Board and School Board gloated over a new baseball field to be constructed at W-L High School for at least $1 million. This will not be a synthetic field and much time was spent discussing the difficulty of starting a Bermuda grass playing field. Nothing at all said about when real classrooms would replace trailer classrooms at W-L.

That's what we deserve for allowing one-party government to control Arlington for the past 32 years.

K.L.

Libby behaved like a total Zimmercrat tonight.

Senior County Staff (almost all don't live in Arlington) come up with these extravagant pet projects (which the County Board knows nothing about) and the County Board listens and rubber stamps them.

Yupette, the baseball field was approved by Libby's pet PTA parents.

No, the most shocking thing that came out of tonight's work session is that they are all committed to a two class system in Arlington - an upscale urban elite and downscale servants of various types for the upscale urban elite.

When push comes to shove, Libby is all about new urbanism for the creative class. She's just another politrickster.

No, the most shocking thing about this work session is that the working poor who clean the classrooms and maintain the baseball fields are considered 'nuisances' who require housing, food, and other economic assistance, which deprives the 'creative class' of publicly funded sports, recreation, and entertainment amenities.

As was mentioned in this blog before, the 'total urbanization' of Arlington is being planned by non-residents who live in low density suburban neighborhoods in Fairfax County.

I think they will all be retired within 5 years and turn the County over to the Developers' hand picked County Board members.

What a charade. It was obvious by the end of the joint work session that Arlington will be a county populated by upscale elitists and their heavily-subisidized servants within 15 years.

Until election district are established for the county board and all seats are up for election at the same time, we will continue to have this Havanna-style government.

The county-wide vote diluting system and the failure to have each seat up for election at the same time is an incumbent protection system that works flawlessly.

We should adopt the Urban-county system similar to Fairfax. Alternatively, maybe the state government can be pressed to return democracy to Arlington.

When does my street get repaved Libby?

Hmmm, good question, I'll have to think about that and discuss the implications with the County Board and in the meantime I am sure the pot holes will be filled as soon as the weather moderates, please sign my petition to put me on the ballot for the November election.

Libby will bring her pet school consultants to the County Board to provide a thorough analysis of the repaving issue.

W-L baseball field will be "by reservation only".
