'Sorry Your Candidate Lost...'

Hello, Yupette,

Sorry the candidate you endorsed lost. Audrey Clement was and is the best candidate. I understand she may run again in a special election for County Board. She did well for someone who was only able to spend, what, $8,000? That's less than 10% of the contributions Hynes and Tejada received.

A big reason Audrey lost is the media. The Post's Editorial Board only wants to relate to the region's mover's and shakers. Check out their bios. They live in Maryland and DC. They don't want to relate to anyone who isn't upscale and trendy. They will never have positive things to say about a candidate who would question the Washington Post Company's inside the beltway development deals.

As for the local media, you have a yellow dog Democrat publishing the Falls Church News Press. And the Sun Gazette? When a newspaper's ad sales person approaches a campaign at a public event and demands the campaign make a big ad purchase in return for positive campaign coverage, that tells me that 'journalistic ethics' is dead at the weekly newspapers.

Finally, if the voters want mega-infill redevelopment, they will suffer the consequences --- sooner than they think.

Thanks to Audrey Clement for running for County Board.

Then there are the Post's Staff Writers. Patricia Sullivan is so unfamiliar with Northern Virginia that she needs detailed directions to places and events not within a block of an Orange Line Metro station.

Local blogs are worse than the Sun Gazette. In the pockets of their advertisers...trendy restaurants, health clubs, etc., and trash anyone who doesn't go along with the gentrification / mega-redevelopmnet program.

Sun Gazette Editor Scott McCaffrey demanded the County Board appoint him to the Emergency Preparedness Advisory Commission in return for endorsing Hynes and Tejada.

Duh, after endorsing 'more of the same' for the County Board, Post Status Quo Writer Patricia Sullivan reported today that Arlington voters want change.

Clement Campaign should have just coughed up the cash and run a few ads in the Sun Gazette.

To their credit, the County Manager's PR team has resisted McCaffrey's demands that they custom-write press releases to Scottie's specifications

Traffic today was really bad on the major arterials. Perfect Indian Summer day...everyone drove to work.

McCaffrey is in-line for an important position on the Arlington Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors.

Mary and Patrick Hynes completely bamboozled Patricia Sullivan when Sullivan interviewed Hynes at the Hynes Mansion in Dysfunction Junction aka Clarendon.

I worked for Andy Rosenberg when he ran against Jim Moran in 2004. If it hadn't been for Moran's 'friends and family' being in the same social set as the Post's Editors, the Post would have endorsed Andy and told Jim Moran to resign his House seat.

Post's Editorial Board is a club.

Morning traffic was backed up on I-395 northbound from the Beltway to the 14th Street Bridge.

Moran has been endorsed by the Post the past four elections based largely on shared social activities with high-level Post employees.

If the Repubs weren't such looney tunes, Moran would be history.

Some choice...spendthrift Democrats or Republican misers.
