Hello Yupette,
The Arlington Gay and Lesbian Alliance held its monthly meeting at National Rural Electrification tonight as did the Arlington Republican Party. The AGLA candidates' debate didn't happen because Patrick Forrest didn't show up and AGLA decided to call the debate off and socialize with the candidates. County Board (except for Zimmerman) showed up and a lively discussion occurred among the candidates and AGLA leadership. Unfortunately, only a few of the AGLA rank and file attended.
Audrey Clement made a good impression on the AGLA leadership, who are on a first-name basis with the County Board. Audrey then stunned AGLA and the County Board by moving next door to the ACRC monthly meeting and addressing and taking questions from Republicans. She received loud applause for her fiscally conservative positions against wasteful spending by the County Board. It was one of the most impressive performances I've ever seen by a candidate for public office.
NO doubt in my mind. Audrey Clement is fiscally, socially, and environmentally responsible and will be an excellent County Board Member.

Audrey earned an 'A' for her 'back to basics' approach to County Government.
We absolutely NEED a County Board member who can bridge differences among political, social, racial, and ethnic groups. Go Audrey !

Yes, back to basics. Like preserving affordable single family hones so I can buy one next year. I live in an expensive apartment and I want to move out and on to the homeowners ranks.
AGLA's leadership (most are personal friends of County Board members) does a big disservice to Arlington's GLBT community by automatically endorsing Democratic candidates.
McCaffrey finally gave Audrey some recognition and respect in his Sun Gazette blog today.
AGLA's leadership cancelled the debates because Patrick Forrest had a scheduling conflict and could not attend. How lame is that?
Yes, Arlington County is in the pockets of the developers. And, yes, as stated in many posts to this blog, the so-called 'planning' decisions are made by non-residents. The Planning Commission and County Board only get to tinker with the architectural amenities.
Audrey Clement would make a great County Board member. Let's help her get elected.
Back to basics. This little County spends way too much money on the frosting while the cake is terrible.
When will my street be paved?
AGLA leadership doesn't want to hear about issues like homelessness.
Your street will be repaved several years after your neighborhood receives a neighborhood conservation grant for 'beautification'. Ask your Democratic ward heeler for details.
