Hello Yupette:
So the new Cherrydale Fire Station will be dedicated tomorrow. After 20 years and $18.2 million dollars spent for a building that cost $5.2 million to construct. This project should be a textbook case study in how NOT to plan and build public infrastructure.
It's appalling that the County Board and County Government are going to celebrate this fiasco tomorrow and Saturday. (How much will the celebrations cost)?
The Cherrydale fiasco proves to me that it's time for an independent Inspector General in Arlington County Government. An independent IG could save Arlington's taxpayers tens of millions every year. I'm not alone. The Civic Federation's Revenues and Expenditures Committee recommended in April that an independent IG's office be established. First thing I would ask an IG to audit would be Zimmerman's stupid streetcar system.

Another reason Barbara Favola is unfit for public office.
How and why was a wealthy auto dealer given %5.5 million for 1/2 acre of unimproved land?
I hope the local media are not going to make a huge rah rah deal out of the dedication.
There should have been an investigation about how an architectural firm that specializes in building fire stations found so many problems when building this one.
No doubt the County Board will try to turn this fiasco into a triumph of the Arlington Way.
Did you see the Democratic debate tonight? The Dems running for state offices want to go to Richmond to raise taxes to fund the County Board's pet projects.
As a matter of fact Reitsfuhrer Zimmerman has considered appointing an independent Reitsinspektor next year. The three Reitsministers under consideration are Reitsminister Inta Malis, Reitsminister William Gearhart, and former Reitsminister Carrie Johnson.
Not far from the truth. Even if Zimmerman were to create am IG's office the IG would not be independent. An independent IG would quickly put an end to the County Board's spendthrift ways.
I agree with Jaime Areigaza-Soto, Barbara Favola should not be on the County Board.
Her priorities on the County Board have been helping her developer cronies get rich, using County resources to help her employer, and removing the middle class and minorities from the County.
Same Barbara Favola who allowed the Ed Peete companies to abandon a building the other side of the old Cherrydale fire station until it started disintegrating?
It will be interesting to read the pro-Favola local media spin on this fiasco after the dedication today.
Based on information received from Arlington County the costs of the new Cherrydale Fire Station were- land acquisition $8.4 million, infrastructure development $1.9 million, fire station construction $7.3 million, total project cost $17.6 million.
I live in Galax VA. You people in Arlington are looney tunes liberals who only know how to tax and spend.
Yupette, the project cost does not include the costs of a fire engine, truck, and EMS vehicle.
I live in Patrick County. You are a bunch of insane Liberals and Conservatives who want to strip America of every dollar to solve the problems of the Third World.
Know who's even more insane? TV, Radio, Newspapers, and the Internet Services. Which never met an American they liked nor a poor, struggling, down-and-out, Third World social, economic, or political refugee they didn't like.
The woman on the Arlington Board of Supervisors (an economic refugee from Wacky Weickerland - Connecticut) who is responsible for this mess is running for VA State Senate. Her Democratic opponent in the Democratic Primary told her to resign from the Board of Supervisors. She was endorsed by the Washington Post. She will also probably be endorsed by the wacky weekly newspapers and the Republican Chamber of Commerce.
Attention Tea Party Patriots - Where are your tax dollars going? To dictators in Third World nations and to the Liberals who control Washington DC and its wealthy suburbs.
D.C. is a black hole that sucks America's tax dollars for world warfare and world welfare.
There is another Lefty wacko, 'Libby the Liberal', running for State Senate whose claim to fame is designing new high schools with every conceivable entertainment, sports, and recreation feature imaginable, but not enough classrooms.
