Where's the Concern About Traffic, Noise, Air Quality?

Hello, Yupette,

It's nice the County Board debated for 4 hours about the noise from live entertainment at Westover Market.

Where is the concern about noise from Rolling Thunder and other events?

Where is the concern about air quality? Several large schools are located near interstate highway corridors.

Where is the concern about traffic? The County Board is set to approve thousands more parking spaces in East Falls Church, Pentagon City, Crystal City, and Columbia Pike.

I did not move to Arlington from D.C. to live in an urban area where the supposedly progressive local government is destroying the environment, when they are not playing environmental charades at scripted events.

For only $50 you can express your concerns to our beloved Reitsfuhrer at the forthcoming "State of the Reit" event.

You would think ACPD would ticket Rolling Thunder participants for violation of noise ordinances, and make it clear they are unwelcome in Arlington County, but REIT controlled hotel properties make too much $$$ from the influx.

I am tired of the so-called 'planning' and 'economic development' for Arlington County being done by people who don't live hear to benefit REITs and developers whose owners also don't live here.

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce / County Board "State of the County" event is outrageous. I have to pay $50 to be able to ask Zimmerman a question about the County's future? Time to dump the incumbents.

FYI, Arlington's EPA air quality index is 90, same as Los Angeles County outside central Los Angeles.

They created tens of thousands of parking spaces and are on-track to create tens of thousands more and have the nerve to tell everyone to ride bicycles.

Want to know who really gets me PO'd? Their all-time favorite Planning Commissioner who approved the development / redevelopment mess....then retired to Montana.

At least it will be warm enough so we won't have to close the windows when it's 75 degrees and turn on the AC because some bikers are revving their ninja bikes to 20,000 rpm at midnight.

Yeah...we are looking at 10,000 more parking spaces created along the Pike and parallel "bicycle boulevards" to create recreational areas in our neighborhoods because YupPigs like Zimmerman never met an out-of-state REIT or a developer they didn't like.

I will not vote for Libby Garvey who actually encouraged parents to drive their kids to school rather than use school buses or rideshare with other parents.

Worst is when they get their 'law enforcement' focktards to pick the locks of anyone who doesn't support the status quo and leave little reminders behind to remind the non-conformists they aren't conforming.

They are ALL gonna be outta here in 10 years. They are looting the taxpayers and then splitting to a luxury gold coast enclave. Everyone in Arlington who has the power to make and significantly influence decisions today will be over 60 by 2021.

I saw what 'law enforcement' is all about in Arlington County at 'Taste of Arlington' last weekend. Bunch of cops grab-assing each other and exchanging gossip with the County Board's ward heelers.

Oh, I always wondered where John Antonelli got the "information" he uses in his "Jane Barcroft" novels.

Major League law enforcement grab-assing and cop gossip with civilians at Taste of Arlington.

Barcrofter said...

Yeah, I wondered why Antonelli and the Arlington Police are so wacko they go after people who ask at County Board meetings why we can't have a bicycle and pedestrian safety program in Arlington. Answer is obvious - they're a bunch of cowboys who only want to chase "bad guys".

I am concerned about air pollution which no one is addressing.

Air pollution from 10,000 more parking spaces in the Pike corridor? Don't worry, be happy, ride a bicycle.

Keep reading Pike Wire, Arl Now, and the other for-profit pro-redevelopment blogs. Like McCaffrey their editors are also laughing all the way to the bank.

Profits are way up at the Sun Gazette, McCaffrey may clear $200,000 this year with bonuses and comps.

Ten thousand new parking spaces from Pike redevelopment, 1200 from EFC redevelopment, 1500 from Pentagon City redevelopment, 10,000 from Crystal City redevelopment. That's like 23,000 created over the next decade.

Third World transportation planning: gridlock the streets, then tell everyone to ride bicycles.

Third World air pollution? Wait ten years.

There is zero interest about the effects of air pollution on our children by the School System. That's you, Libby and Abby.

If Donnellan, Holzheimer, Brosnan, etc., thought Arlington is a good place to live they would be living here.

Want to know where the concern is? If a Rolling Thunder biker skids on loose gravel and falls, half of Arlington's police and EMS units respond.

Ain't that the truth, fellow Anonymous!
