Clement - County Board Receives Failing Grades for Recycling

Hello Yupette:

Green Party candidate for County Board Audrey Clement criticized the Arlington County Board yesterday for Arlington County's badly lagging recycling program. Despite the County Board talking about a "Green" Arlington for more than 15 years Arlington is recycling at the same rate as the rest of Virginia. Moreover, there is lax enforcement of Arlington's recycling code for commercial establishments and the County's own recycling rate is an abysmal 10%.

Audrey's analysis of the County Board's recycling failures was so comprehensive all the County Board could do was to agree with her - and promise to do better. You can view Saturday's County Board meeting online at arlingtonva.us - County Board Meetings.

I am tired of the County Board's Green Gimmicks which are all PR. Audrey has my vote.

How much has all the County Board's jive talk about the environment cost us over the last 15 years?

Fisette's 'Energy Plan' is more environmental jive talk.

So how much is all this so-called "recycling" costing taxpayers?

Only things Arlington Government does effectively is make deals to pave over our neighborhoods and put more traffic on our streets then send out press releases about all the wonderful things they're doing for us.

Nice going, Audrey.

It's the media that prevent good candidates from being elected. Like you-know-who, aka Mr. Chamber of Commerce, at the Sun Gazette.

McCaffrey's so pathetic that he denies bragging about how much he earns and how many 'comps' and 'gimmes' he receives for supporting the status quo, meaning the Republicrats.

Yes, results of the Fenty-Gray election in D.C., and recent local elections inside the Beltway indicate the media are pro massive gentrification, anti-middle class, and anti-environment.

How many more County employees will it take until the County has an effective and comprehensive recycling program?

Recycling? Bikeshare is going to be the next black hole money pit. Ain't gonna be any money left for recycling.

Environment? All bi-partisan county government cares about is seeing how many special interest activities they can pack into a 26 square mile county.
