County Board to 'Sunset' Regular Hearing Agenda Items?

Hello, Yupette,

Have you noticed that there are only two Regular Hearing items on the County Board's agenda for Saturday? They are East Falls Church 'development for the sake of development' (item 33) and the amendments to the County's towing ordinance (item 34) which the County Board will take up on April 26th. Everything else the County Board will take up on April 16th is on the Consent Agenda. That includes, funding for the Route 1 - Crystal City streetcar system, funding for the Long Bridge Park Aquatic Center, major revisions to the form based code for the Pike, approval of the consolidated plan for FY 2012, adoption of Jay Fisette's fossil fuels forever energy task force report, and the County's loans to the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing for the gentrification of Buchanan Gardens.

The common definition of a consent agenda is: "A tool used to streamline meeting procedures by collecting routine non-controversial items into a group whereby all may be approved with a single motion and vote."

Appears the County Board is going to 'sunset' regular hearing items and put everything on the consent agenda in the near future.

Mark

Typical of pols who have been in office way too long.

Budget (item 32) is on the Regular Hearing agenda. But you're right about the CB wanting to sunset the regular hearing agenda. Check out their 2011 rules & regulations for CB meetings.

At least the EFC neighborhood showed up and gave the County Board a lecture.

Better to fleece the sheeple before the summer heats up.

Barbara Favola has instructed County staff to accelerate meetings so she can get out on her Senate campaign trail and do the bidding of developer partner John Shooshan ($25K) contribution. She needs to get down to Richmond so she can secure for Shooshan first crack at developing VDOT owned EFC property.

Between Economic Development and CPHD there are 117 County Staff working to urbanize Arlington County. Next neighborhoods targeted are those on Lee Highway around Bergmann's.

Take a look at the poverty pimp non-profits that are keeping the homeless homeless and gentrifying the working poor out of affordable market-rate housing and who are on their boards of directors.

Same thing is happening elsewhere inside the beltway, Alexandria waterfront and Arlandria.

'Let Them Eat Cake' Barbara has to contend with our Governor 'Pro-Life Bob' and his ability to veto any gerrymandering redistricting plan he doesn't like.

Do a search of their IRS 990s, starting with Northern Virginia Conservation Trust, aka Northern Virginia Mixed-Use Recreation Trust.

As expected, the Board approved the EFC "development" with nary a hiccup. They ignored the EFC neighborhood. I hope the upcoming Board elections will see challengers defeat the incumbents. The current Board members have been in power way too long.
