School Board - There's a Trailer Classroom in Your Child's Future

Hello Yupette,

I attended the School Board's annual charade at the Civic Federation meeting tonight. As usual, the School Board members were long on promises and short on performance. Often heard were promises of some new program to evaluate an existing program.

One thing seems sure, there will be 5,000 more students in the Arlington School System in 2016. What does the School Board propose to do about that? Looks certain that class size will grow and there will be many more trailer classrooms. The School Board would rather spend money on sports and a variety of esoteric classes than on the 3 new schools that will be required to educate Arlington's K-12 public school students in 2016.

Busing students to any old school that has a few empty desks isn't education - it's educational game playing by the School Board.

The School Board is absolutely going along with Zimmerman inflicting massive urbanization on an already crowded suburban county. That's why there will be 5,000 more school age children in Arlington by 2016, because of Zimmerman's megalomania.

YES, the School Board are 5 more Urban Village Idiots conforming to Zimmerman's wacky megalomania.

Almost all questions from the Civfed were softballs.

A hundred or more trailer classrooms? Massive busing of students? This is what we get from a bipartisan political machine whose leadership is dedicated to total urbanization.

School Board is big on programs and promises to evaluate and improve this and that. Where are the results for all the money that's being spent?

Nice the School Board members are so familiar with the complexity of the Virginia Retirement System. But how are they going to educate 5,000 more students and provide a quality education?

What else can they do than do mega busing and install trailer classrooms - Zimmerman needs $138 million to put 12 streetcars on the Pike and Fisette needs $120 million for his Longbridge aquatic and indoor sports center.

How about, your kid gets bused 8 miles one-way because there's a desk in a trailer available?

School Board has given up on solving and preventing problems and turned it over to the Consultants.

School Board was warned 3 years ago to design a new Wakefield HS with more classrooms but chose to go for recreation over education.
