EFC Long Range 'Planning" Meeting Tonight at Westover Library

Hello, Yupette,

The Planning Commission's Long Range Planning Committee is holding a 'planning' meeting tonight at the Westover Library, beginning at 7 PM. Library is located at the intersection of McKinley Street and Washington Boulevard. Appears residents will have an opportunity to make comments and ask questions.

However, after seeing that the County Board ignored the Bluemont civic association and the concerns of the Ballston non-profits last Saturday regarding and Ballston BID (and Ballston is not that far from Westover) it appears this will be another pro forma meeting and the only opinions that count are the County Board's and the developers'.

It is abundantly clear that County "Planning" Staff (most live outside Arlington) consider EFC and Westover residents to be little more than nuisances who try to obstruct mega-development.

The County Board and Robert Brosnan owe citizens an apology for comments made by Planning Staff about residents who live near planned mega-development.

FYI -

The meeting planned for tonight - 12/15 - has been resceduled to January 4th at the Navy Leauge Building (2300 Wilson Blvd)

Yeah, I discovered that in the library lobby.

I have spoken with unhappy EFC, Clarendon, and Crystal City residents about mega-development and we are for a TOTAL MORATORIUM on new planning and development until critical public infrastructure needs caused by over-development can be addressed.

Know what the plan is for EFC? It's Tyson's III style mega-development that gives Chris Zimmerman the only type of green that he understands, tax revenue to fund pet projects.

I do not want my kid to spend 8 years in a trailer classroom because Zimmerman wants Arlington to be another Tysons.

Yes, I am also for a total moratorium. Our kids will be the first to suffer the effects of more mega development.

Why the delay? So Zimmerman can form a SWAT team of "community leaders" and planning staff to foil any citizen opposition to his Tysons III plans for EFC?

Look at who's behind this future fiasco...the Chamber of Commerce controlled local newspapers in Arlington and FC, Nick Benton, former FC Chamber of Commerce President and Publisher of the FC News Press and Scott McCaffrey, Editor of the Sun Gazette currently serving on the Arlington Chamber's Board of Directors.

Total Moratorium time. Also, tell the "Planners" who don't live in Arlington that it's time for them to find other employment opportunities.

No matter how much new real estate is put on the assessment rolls they can never balance a budget without raising taxes and fees.

Arlington County 'Planners' work for the developers and REITs. So why are they on the County's payroll?

"Development for teh Sake of Development" is make work for Arlington's Planning Staff. CPHD is way over-staffed.
