Christmas in November for Entertainment-Recreation at Next County Board Meeting

Hey Yupette,

County Board agenda for Saturday's meeting is posted on the County's Web site, arlingtonva.us. Loaded with stuff for entertainment and recreation interests, including up to $850,000 to refurbish the synthetic surface on ONE playing field. Also several live entertainment use permits involving music, which will ensure a loooong County Board meeting. So bring sleeping bags and pillows if you plan on attending.

A few hundred thousand more for Fisette's pet bicycle interests. You know, the guys on racing bikes dressed in black who run stop signs, traffic lights, and cut you off when you're driving to the supermarket because the County doesn't have an alternative to everybody driving to the supermarket Duh. Anyone ever see anyone on a bicycle in Arlington with a couple bags of groceries loaded on the bike? I haven't. Why not?

The busybodies who run the Fairlington civic association will be there too - micro-managing the restaurant music in Shirlington.

Sopposing there will be 50 synthetic surface playing fields and each will have to be renovated every 8 years at a cost of $1 million. More than $6 million a year budgeted for synthetic field renovation.

Presuming the tea partiers don't significantly cut the civilian side of the federal government

The maintenance and renovation costs of all the parks, entertainment, and recreation projects alone will be 10% of Arlington's yearly budget.

Highlight of the CB meeting will be the live music at Sushi Rock agenda item.

For the cost of one synthetic field renovation we could get the planetarium renovated, a year-round homeless shelter, and library hours restored.

Tejada and Hynes have to go - all they care about is sports, entertainment, and recreation.

Gentrification Jay Fisette, what a jerk. I almost hit one of his bicycle buddies yesterday - dressed in black and ran a stop sign riding his racing bike.

For $850,000 we could have solar water heating panels installed on at least 6 public buildings and they would pay for themselves in energy savings within 8 years.

For all the money being spent on Fisette's latest special interest vanity project - bicycles - we could have 30 miles of Arlington's streets repaved.

More urban village idiocy - money to put markings on the pavement for bicycles, no money for repaving.
