Hi Yupette,
Has anyone seen the County Board's agenda for this Saturday's meeting. It's loaded with extravagant and unnecessary vanity projects, like $500,000 per year for the County's take over of the Pike from VDOT to expedite Zimmerman's trolley / Clarendonification of the Pike. Like $471,642 for design services to "fix" a beaver pond? Like Christmas in September for at least a dozen of the County Board's pet special interests? When will it ever end?

The Beaver Pond is a hole in the water the County Board will be pouring money into - to the tune of 5-10 million dollars.
Another County Board transfer from need to greed.
How about the "public art" project for the for Four Mile Run floodplain?
The $500,000 it will cost Arlington taxpayers to maintain the Pike each year could be used to lease a fleret of bus rapid transit vehicles. Or convertible double deck buses that can be open in the summer.
Also on the agenda is funding for the transitway through Potomac Yards. Another transportation gimmick which goes from nowhere to nowhere - one overcrowded Metrorail station to another overcrowded Metrorail station.
Item on the County Board's September 28th agenda deserves a thread - give away of tens of millions in bonus density to Vornado and the other REITs concomitant with the redevelopment of Crystal City.
What happens of the beavers don't like their $5 million pond makeover?
Zimmerman will hire a team of wildlife specialists to keep the beavers happy. What's another $250,000 a year?
Hate to break bad news, the Pike Trolley is going to cost $250 million to construct. The trains, tracks, overhead wires, and power distribution system will be very expensive to maintain.
Maintenance. Did someone mention maintenance? All the County Board's proposed infrastructure will cost a huge amount to maintain.
The Repigs came out against Zimmerman's vanity project spending and fiscal irresponsibility.
If the Yupublicans took control of the County Board they would spend extravagantly on Nanny Nancy rumor and gossip social control hardware and software.
How many millions will be spent for "public art" in the stream bed of Four Miles Run?
You would THINK that the young people living and working in Arlington (those who are pushing the baby carriages) would be OUTRAGED by the waste of tax dollars. I sure as hell opposed my town government spending money frivolously that I could be putting in my kids' college fund.
Tom, you are obviously not a Yuptard.
