Hi Yupette,
I signed the last Change of Government petition. I suggest starting over. But this time make things really simple, just change from at-large representation to election districts for the County Board, based on 2010 Census data, with boundaries drawn by a multi-party commission.
Regards,
Linda

I'm for it. I could get the mercury vapor street lamps replaced on my street if a County Board Member were held responsible for the quality of life in my neighborhood.
I'm also for it. They would have to be concerned about all neighborhoods in their districts, not (like now) their own neighborhoods.
If we don't do something we are going to get stuck with a $150 million trolley system that takes all day to travel 5 miles and a $150 Aquasphere paid for by the taxpayers to benefit the wealthy pool club elite.
I will sign. You should have seen all the County employees driving around Fairlington after the storm last night. All in brand new or nearly new trucks. Never any money for maintenance, Always a lot of money for overtime because of emergencies caused by poor or no maintenance.
The fire and police unions should sit out teh next petition.
Kim, Fairlington is full of County employees cleaning up the damage, they will be here for a week. We have a County Government of First Responders.
Assuming we collected 15,000 or so valid signatures when would the referendum go on the ballot?
Don't do anything more with the next petition but draw districts.
I am sick of the present form of at-large government whereby the CB members' neighborhoods look great and 1/2 mile away the neighborhoods look terrible. And you call and call 2100 Clarendon Blvd. for years to get the simplest maintenance done e.g., potholes filled.
Thats why I signed too, not to get rid of the county manager.
If some group that has it's act togethre is going to start, the County Fair would be the place and the time.
