Hello, Yupette,
Did you see last night's County Board meeting? The County Board inflicted traffic calming on Chain Bridge Forest, same County Board that approves 2000-4000 more vehicles into Arlington County every year. Not only that, they don't maintain the traffic calming (speed tables) once they're installed. The entire "system" of County Government is out of control. The arrogance of the County Board, County staff, the civic federation, and the civic associations is outrageous.

Have you noticed how many red "brick" crosswalks are disintegrating? How many center lines and crosswalk lines are disappearing from the pavement?
County Government does not upgrade basic traffic control (speed limit signs) because they want to pee away more money on narrowing streets and installing speed bumps.
Joan, almost all the county staff, civic association busybodies, civic federation nannies, and advisory commission micro-managers are pets of the County Board.
Fisette, Favola, and Zimmerman are the worst. They should not be on the County Board. They know that "traffic calming" causes huge controversies in neighborhoods, especially since the process is often flawed, yet they seem to relish the conflict among neighbors.
I hope the neighborhood sues. The County Board will only listen when it's sued or it gets voted out of office.
How many speed tables will be installed in South Arlington as the result of BRAC traffic?
Their traffic coordinator, Jeffrey Sikes, and his staff are not welcome in our neighborhood. We are sending them e-mails to let them know.
Our neighborhood was peaceful for decades. There have been no accidents of any consequence in Chain Bridge Forest. The Traffic Calming staff are troublemakers who have totally disrupted our neighborhood and set neighbor against neighbor.
This is basically County Staff and "Community Leaders" running amok in neighborhood after neighborhood because the County Board approves massive new development in the County.
I am afraid we are going to have MASSIVE traffic calming installed in South Arlington, meaning a speed table installed every 100 feet.
There may be a discussion about this at a Civic Federation meeting this Fall.
