Need for New EMS Vehicles "Critical" - Fisette Strips Public Safety Budget to Fund Entertainment

Hello Ms. Yupette:

There 's a critical shortage of EMS vehicles, Arlington needs at least 5 new Medic vehicles (ambulances) right now. The County's 2011 budget is being stripped of funds by Jay Fisette to pay for expensive live entertainment projects.

How about all the "first responder" junk that gets funded? Like amateur radio equipment in the fire stations?

Roof collapsed on the Bailey's Xroads fire station on Feb. 9th and crushed all the fire and medic units.

I estimate that in the evenings at least 30% of EMS calls in Arlington are answered by Alexandria and Fairfax County units. How much longer can that go on?

You should know that emergency response times are a big charade, any response time over 7 minutes isn't counted.

Arlington's population grew by 23,000 last decade and will likely grow by 23,000 this decade.

Public budget hearings are this week, if you are interested in avoiding future loss-of-life due to Arlington's misplaced budget priorities.

Jay Fisette has a huge conflict of interest regarding his domestic partner's corporation; Jay uses his time and connections on the County Board to help grow Ron's company. Jay also uses his County Board connections to promote the careers of the people on the boards of the largest live theater groups.

The new Cherrydale Fire Station will hopefully be completed in a year. It will cost at least $15 million - $5.5 million to the Koons Auto Empire for a new parking garage (completed), $4 million in staff costs for planning meetings over the past 20 years, $5 million to construct the fire station, and $1 million to furnish the fire station and for new fire and ems equipment and vehicles.

Cherrydale was delayed for another couple years so Koons could complete its $5.5 million parking garage - a gift from Arlington taxpayers.

The f'ing Census Bureau suppressed Arlington's real population growth 189,000 in 2000 to 219,000 in 2010 until the current Census.

County has had a demographer on staff for years.
