Metro to Hold Budget Hearing in Arlington on March 31st

Metro will hold a budget hearing on March 31st at 6:30 PM in the Arlington County Board Room, 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Third Floor, Courthouse Metro station. Metro needs to close a $189 million gap in its 2011 budget. Among others on the WMATA Board is Arlington County Board member Chris Zimmerman.

Metro is a fiscal and operational train wreck.

If you closely examine Metro's budget you'll see that WMATA does to transportation what Zimmerman does to Arlington, spends extravagantly for gimmicks and giveaways, at the expense of the essentials.

We don't need any more excuses from Zimmerman. We need a federal grand jury to issue a subpoena to Zimmerman and the rest of the pathetic excuses who are on the WMATA Board.

Yes, Metrorail's safety problems were caused by Zimmerman's misplaced spending priorities.

Zimmerman spent Metro's budget on stuff like electronic train information displays rather than basic track maintenance and safety upgrades.

Fact is that Zimmerman ignored a population growth of almost 40,000 in Arlington during the time he's served on the Arlington County Board and WMATA Board.

Big turn out last night. The Metro system has big problems that putting lipstick on a pig every year won't resolve.

Exactly right, every year another layer of lipstick on a transportation pig.
