Civic Federation Riled About New County Parking Plan

At it's November 10th meeting the Arlington Civic Federation urged the County Board to delay implementing the County's complex and confusing Parking and Curb Space Management Plan. Many in the Civic Federation are afraid that single family neighborhoods will be adversely impacted by the County's creation of new parking spaces concomitant with new residential and office building site plans.

Same County Board-Chamber of Commerce that created 4,000 new parking spaces near single-family neighborhoods last year?

Same meeting the County presented population data indicating that the County's population has grown by more than 10% over the past decade. So how much longer can the County allow developers to create 1.5 parking spaces for each new condo unit and 4 parking spaces for each new McMansion?

What do the pro-Chamber of Commerce news media and the pro-Chamber of Commerce County Board have in common? They are dependent on ever-increasing revenue from autos and real estate to survive.

Fact of life - Arlington's "growth" depends on destroying neighborhoods like Westover.

Look at what Guru of Gridlock Zimmerman is aiming to do to East Falls Church. This guy is a total Elitist Pig who had the County install at least a million dollars of traffic calming to keep vehicles out of his Douglas Park enclave.

I think what we should all be thinking about is the disaster Arlington County will be in ten years if we keep going on in the same way.

This so-called "parking plan" as concocted by county staff who don't live in the county.

The County Board only wants to continue with its dumb growth agenda - destroying residential neighborhoods with expensive in-fill and packing as many vehicles into Arlington County as possible.

County Board ignored the Civic Federation and adopted a pro-developer parking plan.

Want to know what's going on in my neighborhood, near Marymount University? Favola not only had a new parking garage constructed on the Marymount campus over my neighbors' objections but now Marymount is telling students to park in residential neighborhoods around the school.

Latest Chamber of Commerce boosterism by Scotty McCaffrey - he did not report the CB parking plan would be on the County's Board's agenda, nor did he report that the Civic Federation had major objections until AFTER the CB meeting. What a turkey.
