"County Staffer" reports that Ron Carlee and the County Board became "mutually disenchanted" because Ron was unwilling to say "How High?" when the County Board said "Jump".
Says a lot about the "management" of Arlington County when Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and Greens all stood up at the July 14th County Board meeting and stated that the so-called cultural center is a bad idea, and then made compelling arguments for their case.
Maybe Barbara Dunellen will be more successful at stripping the County budget of every possible dollar for the County Board's pet entertainment and recreation projects.
The waste of tax dollars every year by Arlington's bloated government could easily fund a $150 million aquatics center.
There are at least 20 employees who do nothing but produce "don't worry, be happy" PR, 14 of them in Carlee's office, at a cost to taxpayers of $4 million / year.
It will be interesting to see if Ron takes the Orange Line downtown and gets stranded on a platform as SRO trains pass by without stopping. Bet a donut he will drive downtown.
County Board's choice for next County Manager? He / She better be ready to fill the CB's every need for pet programs for pet special interests, paid for by taxpayers.
Carlee should not go anywhere except into retirement for the rest of his life. I resent the stunt he and the county board pulled with the cultural center funding when he and they knew he was leaving county government.
I hope either the board or the county manager will address issues at the Arlington County police department. That includes resolving the request for reasonable accommodation filed by one of the Arlington County auxiliary police officers after getting injured while participating in police fundraiser outside of Arlington County. For crying out loud, let's treat our volunteers with a little respect.
Time for the rest of us to get out of Dodge. It's only going to get more congested and more expensive in Arlington over the next few years. Route 66 and 395 I don't even want to think about.

The position is a loser for anyone who takes it.

Carlee should ask Arlington Chief of Police Doug Scott to please retire before Carlee movss on.
BTW, why do we have so many 'on the job retirees' in the Arlington Police Department?
Because Arlington Government has lots of on-the-job-retirees in every department.

How big is Ron's "Golden Parachute"? One million doallars? Two million dollars?
Was there ever a time when Arlington County Government was not a turkey farm?
When Republicans had control they never spent money on important stuff like schools which is why the Dems took control

A Smart Growth smarty pants like Ron Carlee driving to work downtown by himself? Naw, won't happen.
