Kaine, VDOT, Arlington VIPs Attempting to Save HOT Lanes Deal
On September 9th VDOT Director Pierce Homer and local elected officials, including Guru of Gridlock Chris Zimmerman, will discuss HOT Lanes at the Arlington Committee of 100 meeting at Marymount University, a private college located about 8 miles from I-395. The Arlington Committee of 100 is a group of about 300 "community leaders". No public meetings with VDOT VIPs and other state officials are currently scheduled. Governor Kaine has reportedly instructed VDOT, Zimmerman, and others to take whatever steps are necessary to save the HOT Lanes deal.

Fluor and TransUrban spent massive amounts of money lobbying the General Assembly for HOT Lanes. Kaine wants to leave office saying he did something about traffic congestion on I-95 / 395, no matter what the consequences for South Arlington and Alexandria.
Time for Chris Zimmerman to step down from both the County Board and Metro Board. He's played a significant role in making a mess of both Arlington County and Metro.
Outrageous that 22206 residents have to pay to attend an event being held 8 miles from their neighborhood where Arlington VIPs from North Arlington will wheel and deal over HOT Lanes.
Bi-Partisan deal in the works: more lanes, more vehicles. More tolls, more lanes, more vehicles. More sprawl, more lanes, more tolls, more vehicles, more pollution. It's never ending.
County Board-controlled Arlington "Independent" Media will broadcast the "VIPs know what's best for you" charade.
Hi, Yupette. Worst of all are the local media who apparently are going along with HOT Lanes and want still more urban infill and suburban sprawl. Look at where their advertising revenue comes from - real estate and automotive ads. How about a thread on this subject?
AIM? Look at who is is on AIM's board of directors. Arlington Independent Media is about as independent as the Sun Gzette, which is owned by General Electric and the Bank of Montreal which only care about how many advertising dollars the Sun Gazette earns.
"Snotty" McCaffrey is pro-McDonnell. He doesn't give a s*** about his own neighborhood in Fairlington, about 1/4 mile from 395.
McCaffrey is another of Arlington's never-married lives-alone Nanny Nancys who has no life and wants to control everyone elses life.
Like John Antonelli, Nanny Nancy Hunt, Carrie Johnson, etc.
All the civic associations are is another layer of bureaucracy that prevents anything meaningful from being accomplished, unless it happens to be one of the County Board's pet projects.
Chris Zimmerman's antics while on the County Board make a widened I-66 a necessity, not an option. What a F-tard. Did Zimmerman actually think that installing 4,000 new parking spaces every year in Arlington wouldn't have an effect on I-66 traffic? Duh. Zimmerman is another urban village idiot who should retire to Montana, North Dakota, or someplace way the hell out of Arlington before he can do any more damage.
Turns out that VA Secretary of Transportation will not attend and the AAA attack dog for more traffic congestion everywhere will take his place.
Painfully obvious from last night's Committee of 100 meeting that the downstate pols only want more interstates and more lanes on existing interstates.
Yupette, the Alexandria City Council members are only sympathizing with I-395 corridor residents, just as they have about anything esle that's been a major source of air pollution in Alexandria. The Alexandria City Council really only cares about the polluters.
And Arlington County only cares about developers.
Bob McDonnell, Creigh Deeds, and Tim Kaine are mad as hell at Arlington and Alexandria residents who are "obstructionist." The Fluor and TransUrban lobbyists for HOT Lanes spread money liberally around Richmond, starting in 2001.
Carrie Johnson is married
There is a meeting scheduled on October 21st so some sort of "deal" can be worked out among the jurisdictions regarding HOT lanes and I-66 before the elections.
Hi Yupette,
Alexandria Gazette Packet is reporting that Alexandria Republicrats are still fence sitting about sueing VDOT over HOT Lanes.
