Jay Fisette - Arlington's Mr. Conflict of Interest?
A.Y. has received several e-mails about Arlington County Board Member Jay Fisette and his alleged conflicts of interest. So here's the opportunity for those interested in better government to post their thoughts.

Fisette accepted campaign contributions from Signature Theater board members; then the Signature held a fundraiser for Fisette that cost the Signature several thousand dollars but was not reported as an in-kind contribution by the Fisette campaign. Subsequently the Signature received a $50,000 arts grant from the County Board. Sure looks like conflict of interest to me.
Realtor Scott McCaffrey couldn't help himself after he noticed that Gentrification Jay received a $1000 payoff...er..contribution from the Northern Virginia Realtors' PAC.
Jay Fisette has no conflicts of interest. He wants Arlington to be Neverland-on-the-Potomac and that's what he's been working towards for over a decade. Managing Arlington efficiently is a distraction from promoting his agenda and special interests.
Why is there no community policing in Arlington? Because Fisette's fellow guppycrats constantly call 911 with "suspicious person" complaints when they see a person they don't like or someone who is black or latino in their neighborhood. Fisette's entire time on the county board has been spent furthering his canine, aquatic, and performing arts interests.
Aquatic Center's next on Jay's agenda. Wealthy private pool clubbers want to operate a year-around water sports center and want Arlington taxpayers to pay for it.
The wealthy pool club members want the same deal that the performing arts received from Giveaway Jay. They will control the use of the aquatic sports center and taxpayers will pay to build and operate it. How much? About $150 million. Look for a big bond referendum for parks & recreation in the near future.
Jay's friends are malicious xenophobes. They call the police to harass people they don't like. And keep minority group members from walking through their enclaves, e.g., Ashton Hts. That is not what the liberation movement was supposed to be about.
McCaffrey can't say or do anything but be a wuse and go along with the program. The Sun Gazette continues to be published because its parent company filed for Chapter 11 and got out from under a mountain of debt. And left its shareholders and creditors with nothing - but that's another story.
McCaffrey has undoubtedly been told it's in his newspaper's best financial interests to get along and go along.
The local media (Post, SG, etc.) are the worst. Always have plenty of space for long articles about tedious drivel. Never any space to cover the campaign activities, platform, etc. of third party candidates, even when the third party candidate is running against one opponent.

Fisette has also received contributions from attorneys who represent developers who have had site plans before the County Board for approval
Scott McCaffrey's already promised to endorse Fisette. Wonder why the Republicans don't bother nominating candidates for County Board?

Anyone know why the West Group contributed to Fisette's campaign?

West Group owns a number of energy in-efficient buildings in McLean and wants Green PR.

Giveaway Jay promised a black box theater in the redeveloped area near the East Falls Church Metro station

Bond referendum for the Fisette Aquatics Center will be in 2011.
Hey, Yupette, Arlington performing arts groups are also receiving federal stimulus funds, on top of everything else.
Favola is sending out spam e-mail responses to people who e-mailed the County Board about the Fisette Cultural Center.
Basically saying that the CB is fiscally responsible.
