Yeah, Rocky II has already isolated his Yupscale neighborhood using massive "traffic calming". But Zimmy figures - why put up with minorities at all on the Pike when we can gentrify them, out...at a cost to Arlington taxpayers of only $50 to $100 million? Why else do you suppose hr made his fellow Rockefeller Republican - Nasty Nanny Nancy Hunt - Chair of the Planning Commission?
Word from CB insiders is that the County Board decided to defer the bailout until after Election Day. Hence the vote to defer on September 16th. Cost to tapayers will be at least $500,000.
Live theater in every voting precinct. A welcome center for Harley owners. Ugly public art in every neighborhood. A speed table every 100 feet on residential streets. Trolleys that go from nowhere to nowhere at 5 mph on all major streets, boulevards, and highways. A huge aquatic center run by the members of the exclusive swim clubs.
Street paving, new street lighting, fire/EMS infrastructure, a new Wakefield HS, etc. will again be deferred to fund the above.
Nanny Nancy Hunt and the other Republicrat Planning Commission members voted for the taxpayers to pay for the demolition of the Ed Peete Company's eyesore on Lee Hwy.
The County Board is deferring paying until the developers' best bud, Barbara Favola, is re-elected.
Where is the organization that supposedly acts in the interest of Arlington's taxpayers - ACTA? Its members never appear when these issues come before the County Board.
Dog Parks more and more dog parks. Dog owners have been a key part of the Yupupblicrats plans for some time. The County funds their dog parks and they do little favors for the County salons like support certain projects and use their dogs to harass people they don't like. I know for a fact that Zimmerman has dog owners go to people's houses in the early morning and use their dogs to wake them up. He also has them mess on their lawns as a hint to shut up and go with the program.
The canine crazy thing has been going on for over a decade. Of course the County Board uses dog owners to harass people the County Board doesn't like. The County Board also uses the Arlington Police and Sheriff's Deputies to harass people it doesn't like. As for Zimmerman, he's a Rockefeller-Scranton-Weicker Republican fat cat wannabe circa 1968 and a local tyrant. The County Board uses a wide variety of intimidation methods, ranging from police beatings of minorities to using dog owners to harass green activists at 6 AM Sunday morning. The so-called Republicans go right along, as the price of being appointed to the County's status-quo boards and commissions. Have we forgotten anyone? Oh yes, there's Scott McCaffrey, the County Board's media flunky and #1 media dumb growth booster.
If Zimmy is coercing people to harass people Zimmy doesn't like, break into their homes, beat them up, etc., he and the malefactors should be in a federal prison together. Ever heard of RICO?
I can understand how Antonelli got away with trashing Zimmy in the Jane Barcroft novels - Antonelli works for the Justice Department and lives in a secure condo complex.
The Ed Peete Company is owned and operated by Patriots and you Liberals only want to take hard earned money from Patriots and give it to welfare recipients for national health care. If the Gays who own and operate the Signature Theater can get corporate welfare from Arlington, why can't the Ed Peete Company?

Chris Zimmerman is foaming at the mouth to redevelop Barcroft Apartments.

Next up are the Chris Zimmerman Columbia Pike Trolley ($200 million) and the G.J. Fisette Aquatics Center ($175 million).
Does anyone know whether or not the County Board will bail out the Ed Peete Company and pay to demolish Peete's half-finished Lee Highway eyesore?
It's Item 56 on Saturday's County Board agenda.
Yupette, it's none of your business if the County Board wants to spend $600,000 to $900,000 of taxpayer dollars to bail out Ed Peete.
You as full of S*** as the Depends Mark Ellmore wears to candidate debates.
I think they already decided about bailing out Ed Peete on September 16th.

Next vanity projects? More live theater and cultural centers.

Yupette, I am the person who posted about the dogs. Finally someone tells the truth in Arlington. You don't get this stuff in the Post.

Have we forgotten anyone else? Like the Washington Post? How about a thread about the YupPost, which is the #1 regional media dumb growth booster.

Worst of all in my opinion was the Arlington Mill Community Center redevelopment to an upscale Yuppie housing and recreation complex.
Shame, shame on everyone, Walter Tejada, Greens, housing activists, progressives, churches, everyone.
This was public property and the funds should have been raised to build a large number of truly affordable apartments and condos on the site.
If affordable housing couldn't happen on the Arlington Mill site where can it happen?
