County Board Loves Neighborhoods...Like Foxes Love Chickens

Hey, Yupette,

Time for a reality check regarding 'Neighborhood Day' and our residential neighborhoods - 'Neighborhood Day' is a PR charade to give the impression that County Government and the County Board are concerned about neighborhoods, when what our residential communities really are are their 'redevelopment opportunities' and recreation and entertainment zones for in-fill redevelopment. East Falls Church should be a big wake up - County Government is committed to massive urbanization of Arlington.

Talked with a lady in the unit block of North Columbus today. She says Columbia Gardens is angling to develop a chunk of its property. County Board and developer weasels won't even let the dead rest in peace.

In case you missed it the County Board made approving live music at the Westover Market into a huge charade during the last County Board meeting. Another precedent in the steady erosion of our right to peace and quiet in our neighborhoods

How about a thread exploring an immediate moratorium on more urbanization of Arlington County and regionalization of public infrastructure and services instead? Starting with a regional homelessness prevention and treatment program.

Never mind the biketards, in a few days Arlington will be hosting the bikertards.

Vroooom...Vroooom...Leader of the Pack.

Does it bother you that the County Board made a big deal about live entertainment noise in Westover and says nothing about Harleys and Ninja bikes which are way over the limit on noise?

Holzheimer (Economic Development Director) has a staff of 30; Brosnan (CPHD Director) has a staff of 85.

Did you attend Taste of Arlington? Every current and former cheerleader East of the Mississippi was there.

FYI there's a law enforcement motorcycle organization that allows only street-legal motorcycles to participate in its events. They hold an event in this area in mid-May

Doug Scott should be near the top of the list. Arlington PD is totally reactive. No enforcement of motorcycle, bicycle, pedestrian safety laws and only enforcement of noise at it relates to loud music and parties. Arlington PD spends its time responding to domestic, shoplifting, homeless complaints.

How much do Arlington taxpayers pay to fund all the festivals? I moved to Douglas Park to get away from 'downtown Arlington'. Zimmerman is bringing 'downtown Arlington' to his own neighborhood.

I nominate Clifton as the staging area for 'Rolling Thunder' in 2012.

So live entertainment noise gets limited to 60 db in Westover but the noise level will be 160 db in the I-395 corridor during 'Rolling Thunder'.

VA General Assembly stated 40 years ago that we have the right to peace and quiet in our homes.
