Parent: 'I Can't Afford Cri$tol and Dor$ey on the County Board'

Hello, Yupette.

I'm a parent of two children who attend Arlington Public Schools.

Yes, hundreds of APS students aren't legally Arlington residents. Neither parent lives here. The all-Democrat School Board, Arlington Education Association, and apparently the County Board, go along with this. We are afraid to say anything, though we see the parents driving kids to Campbell School from Fairfax County.

But what is really disconcerting is that virtually everyone who is in a decision-making position in this County is promoting "Growth for the Sake of Growth".

What does it matter if we have Taj Mahal schools if, a few years after they're constructed, my kids are placed in trailer classrooms? What does it matter if there are 23, rather than 22, students in a classroom?

The Democrats want to grow Arlington by 66,000 by 2040. They also want massive amounts  of expensive so-called "affordable housing" which typically costs $250,000 per unit to construct.

Looks as though we are going to face some steep tax increases to pay for "Growth for the Sake of Growth". Endorsed by Katie Cristol and Christian Dorsey.

Well, I'm sorry, I need to save for my kids' college education. Looks to me Katie Cristol is out to make some money through her educational consulting and Christian Dorsey will be good chums with the "affordable housing" providers. Mike McMenamin says he won't cut anything.

Bottom line for my family - we can't afford to elect Christian Dorsey and Katie Cristol to the County Board.

I'm voting for Audrey Clement.

Thanks for your blog.

Barbara

Or you can do what countless other people with lower incomes have done for decades, and move out to Prince William County where you'll be surrounded by others in your income/wealth bracket.

How about, instead, the Arlington Police (and there are Arlington Police Officers in all the public schools now) start arresting the $leazy $hits who are ripping us off to the tune of $20,000 per student per year for educating 600 non-resident students?

What's wrong with putting every dollar possible into a college savings account now so my kids won't be overwhelmed paying off student loans in 10 years?

County Board, School Board, Arlington Police, Commonwealth's Attorney, AEA, Cristol, Dorsey, Goldstein, school PTAs, all know all about non-resident parents ripping off APS to the tune of at least $20 million/year.

Cristol and Dorsey are two more who would get rich from doubling down on 'Smart Growth' (which is anything but smart) while on the County Board. Dorsey from affordable housing and Cristol from education services.

Arlington County is so corrupt that the school PTAs (which also go along with the non-resident parent rip off) are telling parents not to volunteer for Clement's campaign...or else.

Our real estate taxes will go up 4% to 6% per year for the next decade just to pay for new schools and affordable housing for the 66,000 the Smart Growth idiots want to ad to the County's population.

Arlington Police are also completely corrupt. They go after minorities for allegedly smoking pot (reported by residents of upscale neighborhoods who don't want minorities in their communities) while there's massive illegal drug dealing and use among the Millennials.

I also want to put away more $$$ for my kid's college education. Time to RIF Arlington's bloated bureaucracy. Start with abolishing the Commissioner of the Revenue's Office.

Want fiscal sanity to return to Arlington? Fire Arlington's Economic Development Director, Victor Hoskins.

Earth to Urban Village Idiots who control County Government -- STOP wasting our tax dollars telling us to ride bicycles in the Winter.

Only in Arlington does 'economic development' consist of food trucks from outside the County competing with restaurants inside the County.

AED? LOL. AED has 66 employees. Only 6 have anything to do with economic development.

Corrupt County Government? The totally unnecessary car tax decal program is costing us $1 million per year and generating tons of waste paper and plastic every year.

Christian Dorsey is nothing but a glorified poverty pimp.

The good news is that in 5 years Arlington's McMansions will become boardinghouses, during the next economic recession.

APS hired more than 500 veteran teachers at $75,000 and up without bothering to conduct an outcomes analysis to see if they perform as well as younger teachers with a few years teaching experience.

Typical comment from the corrupt Democratic Machine: if you don't like our fiscally irresponsible government, move to PW County.

Why did John Vihstadt endorse Christian Dorsey? John Vihstadt is an "affordable housing" attorney.

So Victor Ho$kin$ is complaining about only having 6 employees working on economic development matters? Why did he keep 10 Arti$phere employees when the Arti$phere closed?

If they were really working for us they would knock off the extravagances and build modular classrooms as Alexandria does and re-purpose commercial office buildings. County has an option to buy the entire Sequoia Center on Washington Blvd. and use it for educational purposes as commercial leases expire.

Barbara,

I'm with you. Tuition, room, and board at private colleges and universities will be $85,000 / year in ten years when my daughter attends college. Who wants to help parents save for college? Only Audrey Clement, insofar as I am aware, from what she stated at a candidate forum I attended.
