Tejada Demanding Campaign Contributions in Return for "Facilitation"

Hello,

Thank you for your blog.

I'm a 2nd-Generation Arlington Latino and Walter Tejada is a disgrace to Arlington's Latino and Latina community. This guy is a big nada, does nothing for us as a community or individually. Did you see what happened to the Casa Blanca bakery and coffee shop on the Pike? It went out of business. What Nada Tejada is really good at doing, besides traveling around the USA and the World at taxpayers' expense, is demanding 'contributions' for facilitating use permit renewals for restaurants and also for grant applications that come before the County Board. These are not restaurants like Casa Blanca, they are night clubs and have lots of problems. Almost all the organizations that are looking for grants from the County are worthless, except they pay their leadership big salaries. If you are one of these groups you have to make a 'contribution' to Senor Tejada to have your use permit or grant or whatever 'facilitated' by the County Board.

Just wanted to give you a perspective about what is occurring in the Latino and Latina community.

Tomas

I wondered how some of the night clubs on the Pike can continue operating.

Casa Blanca out of business? How did that happen? Where was Chris 'Business Friendly' Zimmerman? Where was Nada Tejada? Where was the Chamber of Commerce? Where was the Chamber's media booster, Scott McCaffrey?

Worthless organizations? Surely you don't mean the non-profits that keep the homeless homeless? One employee or volunteer for every homeless person and there are still 500 homeless persons.

Nada Tejada: "Amigo, I will fix the ticket, but it will cost you".

Casa Blanca out of business"? J. Walter Tejada's huge production for the Latino community five years ago. LOL

Having Walter fix the ticket for your Pike nite club will cost you $1000, $500 to Walter's campaign and $500 to Walter for walking around and travel money.

All a big County Board charade like when a neighborhood complains repeatedly about a night club but the night club is never shut down.

It's the usual County Board big deal charade - allow live entertainment to get out of control and then spend about 5 hours at County Board meetings 'fixing' live entertainment problems while exacting thousands in 'donations' from club and restaurant owners.

Does Walter Tejada actually do anything besides travel and meet with his amigos?

It's been going on a long time...maybe a dozen times the past decade neighborhoods have been outraged by the behavior of night club patrons, but the clubs always remained open.

How about Mary Hynes and Whitlows?

If the local print media were anything but shills for the chamber of commerce and the status quo they would have summer interns running down who contributed what to whom and what the contributor received in return.

Anyone can see who contributed to Walter Tejada the last campaign cycle, it's on-line. Looks like there were some night club owners and lobbyists for non-profits.

How about Mary Hynes's neighbors contributing in return for her and Barbara Favola relocating DHS to Washington Blvd.?

I am leaving this comment not about Columbia Pike but about Ridge Road. One neighborhood is furious because the County is bulldozing road modifications down residents throats. Residents will be force do use their own cars to slow down traffice. We believe they give money to citizen associations as a bribe and then go ahead with big development in Crystal City. See www.saveourstreets.net. Thanks.

Most civic associations are controlled by the county board.
