Greens and Independents Force Dems to Move on Infrastructure

Great News, Yupette, Green candidate for School Board Miriam Gennari forced the Arlington School Board to save the Planetarium. And the Greens and Independents in Fairlington forced Boss Zimmerman to start tree maintenance in Fairlington before someone is killed by a falling tree or tree limb during the next big storm. Susan

Thumbs up to Miriam. Sally Baird could care less about science. She's tied into Jay Fisette's Arlington as Club Hedo with poor and middle class kids being the waiters and waitresses.

Sally Baird and Jay Fisette want Arlington to become like Johannesburg. Household servants can live here. Everyone else will have to commute into and out of Arlington from 60 miles away.

Sally Baird is also responsible for the Wakefield High School planning disaster which will give us a recreation-remediation center with an inadequate number of classrooms. Sally Baird is part of the "Arlington as an inside-the-beltway party zone" crowd, which is why they brought Mike Brown here from Savannah. He was masterful at working with "community leaders" to gentrify minorities and the middle class out of Savannah.

Of course Baird (and the rest of the school board) don't care about educating all of Arlington's kids. They've set up a two-tiered neo-segregationist system that produces an Elite class of well-educated upscale Whites and a servant class of poorly-educated minorities. Who do you think is cleaning the homes of Arlington's Elite, maintaining the golf courses at the country clubs, performing dangerous and low-paid work like fighting in Afghanistan? The 1/3 of each class at Wakefield who drop out before graduation.

Person who should be very interested in Arlington's schools but apparently is not is Mark Kelly. Has four children. Lives in South Arlington. Do his kids attend public schools?

Zimmerman has been on the County Board for 15 years. He lives in South Arlington and his children attended public schools. Yet any improvements in the public schools came from parents, not Zimmerman. He dragged his feet on constructing a new Wakefield HS and when it was planned he went along with Baird and Fisette to construct a rec center with classrooms.

Baird, Zimmerman, Fisette, Favola, Garvey, etc., also hired a schools superintendent who's a former phys ed teacher to improve their recreation-remediation curriculum for middle class and minority students.

Miriam is also forcing the Yuppiecrats who run the county to take responsibility for actually educating every child.

How insipid are they? When Wakefield was planned they told the Transportation Commission to ignore traffic from the Bailey's Crossing apartment complex, across Dinwiddie Street in Fairfax County, which has huge parking garages. Then, when the Wakefield plans went to the County Board, they got all concerned about the GenZs and their friends who live in Bailey's Crossing using Wakefield as their recreation center and causing "security problems".

Wakefield should be a case study in how not to plan a new high school.

Zimmerman was asked to stop the Bailey's Crossing apartment project, or at least work with Fairfax County supervisor Penny Gross to greatly reduce its size. He refused.

When Mary Hynes and a number of Arlington residents went to the Fairfax County Board meeting where the project came up for approval with their concerns about traffic from Bailey's Crossing they were, in effect, told to sit down and shut up by Gerry Connally.

Developer of Bailey's Crossing was Daniel Clemente, a big contributor to Fairfax County Democrats.

Greens are still trying to block I-66 widening and are giving the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals fits.

Bailey's Crossing developer was supposed to do comprehensive traffic mitigation by the time Bailey's Crossing was completed, has not yet been started.

How many kids who live in Bailey's Crossing is Sally Baird allowing to illegally attend Wakefield just across the street rather than JEB Stuart, which is the nearest Fairfax County high school, and is 5 miles away?

How many non-resident kids are included in the 6.3% increase in Arlington's school population this school year?

Ask know-it-all Scott McCaffrey, who lives 1/4 mile from Wakefield H.S.

The Greens and Independents are forcing the County Board to finally retrofit on-site solar to public buildings. Long overdue. Keep pushing.

Libby Garvey (who lives in Fairlington) has been repeatedly asked about parents who live in Bailey's Crossing, Skyline, and similar apartment complexes sending their kids to Wakefield illegally rather than to J.E.B Stuart. She's been totally unresponsive.

The funding for installing solar on the Central Library roof is coming from federal stimulus funds. The Greens will have to keep pushing so the County spends pay as you go for renewable energy on-site (which will save taxpayers money) rather than more expensive entertainment and recreation projects.

After years of mediocre service in South Arlington WMATA is holding hearings on 25 route bus service. Is someone connected with WMATA running for election?

The Greens and Independents are also pushing for fiscally responsible government, not 4 more years of Boss Zimmerman's fiscally irresponsible government.

No Zimmerman Trolley. Another huge waste of money like the HedoSphere.
