Capacity Audience Hears Garvey, DeLa Pava, Davis Endorse Vihstadt

Hello,

A Y sent a contributor to cover County Board Member John Vihstadt's kickoff re-election campaign event at the Lyon Village Community Center this afternoon.

The event did not disappoint. The number of Vihstadt supporters who attended reached the capacity of the Communty Center. Leaders of same coalition that elected Mr. Vihstadt 4 years ago attended the event together with many new Vihstadt supporters - Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Greens, and Libertarians. Democrats Libby Garvey and Carmen De La Pava endorsed Mr. Vihstadt. So did former Republican Congressman Tom Davis.

It appears that whatever advantages the Arlington Democratic Regime may have against the Regime's usual County Board opponents may well be again negated this next election.

Mr. Vihstadt has apparently also been endorsed by Democrat Commonwealth's Attorney Theo Stamos.

I'm one of the 1/3 of electorate - an Independent voter who's really Independent. My view is that Arlington has five years left as a livable suburban county. Too many people, vehicles, events, and activities are being packed into too little space. There's no thought by anyone in a decision-making position about the consequences of adding 3,000 persons to the resident population every year. The people in decision-making positions, who have been destroying this suburban County for more than 20 years with their mixed-use infill, retire, disappear, and are never seen again, whether they are County Board members, VIP County Staff, residents who serve on advisory commissions, or are "community leaders". It's also disconcerting that so many non-residents on County Staff are given so much control over our lives.

Then there are the local media chamber of commerce and smart growth boosters who are either non-residents or outta here at some point like county government and public school system employees.

How many of Arlington's "decision makers" from a decade ago are now living in North Carolina?

What have they been smoking at 2100 Clarendon Blvd. that made them want to jam tens of thousands more people into 10 square miles of the County by entering the Amazon corporate welfare bidding contest?

Livability of the County is going to disappear with the current group of decision makers when they retire in not too many more years. Anyone recently seen anyone who was on the County Board 5 years ago? Where is Jay Fisette living now, on the Trump Coast of Florida, where this blog reported he has a retirement estate?

So what Arlington PlutoCrats are starting to do is go after J.V. for voting Republican in national elections. Pretty desperate.

What this signals to me is that Garvey, DeLa Pava, and Stamos don't care what the Democratic Leadership thinks because they are not going to seek re-election.

Garvey and De La Pava gave J.V really strong endorsements so you may be correct about that.

Did you see last night CB Meeting? More and more bars, restaurants, and boutiques going to be be packed into Clarendon, when it's already a Millennialized mess.
