395 Express Lanes - Latest Chapter in Arlington's More Car Diet Saga

Hey Yupette,

So the County Board approved a resolution calling for I-395 Express Lanes, although there is major unhappiness by the Arlington neighborhoods that would be affected. What else is new in the ongoing More Car Diet saga? County Board needs good will of Governor McAuliffe and the General Assembly to pay for a WMATA bailout due to WMATA's incompetence. And for a laundry list of vanity projects.

Can't slow down Prince William, Stafford, and Prince William residents who drive from the affordable outer suburbs through un-affordable Arlington to their places of employment where they can earn enough to afford a 4-bedroom home in a sprawl neighborhood bulldozed out of farms, forests, and along streams. The General Assembly won't allow it.

I-395 Express Lanes approval was the last in a series of actions the County Board took during 2016 to increase the number of vehicles, and vehicle trips, in Arlington, ranging from approving huge new parking garages a couple blocks from Metro stations to more parking and larger drop offs for SUV parents at Stratford Elementary School.

If you don't want to drive you can always take an ART bus, soon to be stuck in traffic at 6 mph.

Thanks for this blog.

If it weren't for the Post I would be believing dishonest Democrat politricksters like Christian Dorsey and riding Metrorail to work.

What did you expect? From the track workers to the WMATA Board Members they're all a bunch of incompetent and dishonest Democrats.

For at least two decades at WMATA most of the important discussions, debates, and arguments have been about the Redskins, Wizards, and (since 2005) the Nationals.

More of the same corrupt "New Urbanism." Let everything deteriorate until it collapses from decay and then spend a fortune tearing down and rebuilding what could have been saved at much less cost through timely renovations and maintenance.

No way I am voting for 'Gentrification Jay' Fi$ette if he runs again. All he cares about are his pet people and projects...latest on his long-term agenda was reforming the towing industry.

We deserve a much better County Board. All they do is make secret deals with their corporate, non-profit, and political cronies.

Right. They are too busy running their mouths about sports and celebrities to accomplish anything at work.

It's 32 degrees this morning. Urban Village Idiots who control the County want you to bicycle to work. OK, pave my crumbling street and I will think about it.

Whatver they say, they do the opposite - car-free diet, affordable housing, etc. I don't believe anything County Government says.

Like everything else that's allowed to deteriorate, decay, fall into a state of disrepair, towing industry became completely dysfunctional over the course of the 20 years Jay Fisette's been on the County Board.

Have you visited ArlNow and Inside Nova lately? Only about 10% of what you see is actually news. Rest is advertising, informercials, and press releases.

I stopped visiting Inside Nova. Too many screen freezes and one crash that took a half-hour to recover from.
