Audrey Clement Wins Arlington Chamber of Commerce Q and A Forum

Hi Yupette,

I also attended the Arlington Chamber of Commerce County Board Candidate Q and A Forum yesterday.

Audrey Clement clearly won. She directly answered the five questions related to business and economic development issues as they relate to Arlington, did not talk about herself at all, she only laid out what she's going to do for us on the County Board, and also clearly and succinctly laid out a positive economic future for Arlington. She was the only County Board candidate who advocated for tax relief for Arlington's businesses as a driver for economic growth.

The thing that most impressed me about Audrey's presentation was her assertion that the County must do something to reverse the ongoing deterioration of the Rosslyn, Ballston, and Columbia Pike streetscapes.

I was appalled to see the deterioration in the Rosslyn streetscape, around the Artisphere. Broken pavement and broken sidewalks everywhere. Is that World Class? I don't think so !!

So I'm voting for Audrey in November. You should too. The other candidates at the Chamber's Q and A session are pretty much for the same-old same-old.

Thanks for this blog.

What the hell has the Rosslyn BID been doing to improve the overall quality-of-life in Rosslyn?

Yes, elect Audrey Clement, the only candidate in the debate who mentioned the crumbling streets and sidewalks along the major arterials...and Rosslyn is one of them. What do the BIDs in Rosslyn, Crystal City, and Columbia Pike actually do? Wine and dine the REITs?

Audrey Clement was also the only candidate who wants to get manufacturers of double deck and BRT bus vehicles to bring demo vehicles to the Pike. I am sick and tired of all the talk by all the Democrats...time to act.

Audrey Clement was the only candidate at the Q and A forum who wants to cut business taxes. I thought the Chamber's Q and A forum was supposed to be about economic and business issues.

When does my street get repaved? Oh the money is going to build a tramway for gondolas between DC and Arlington.

Skyway between Georgetown and Arlington? You mean the "streetcar in the sky"?

Artisphere is impeccably maintained. Streets and sidewalks around the Artisphere are Third World.

Why should the sky streetcar only run from Georgetown to Rosslyn? Should run from Economic Development Guru Vic Hoskins's home in Georgetown up Clarendon Blvd. and Washington Blvd. to his office on Glebe Road.

Have you ever known a Limo Liberal who didn't want to bankrupt a city, county, or state by building grandiose infrastructure?

I see double deck tourist buses all over DC and in Arlington near Arlington National Cemetery. Why not a few test double deck buses on the Pike this Summer?

How about "The Sky Line to Skyline'?

Correction - Victor Hoskins - Guru of Multi Molal Gridlock

Oops "Guru of Multi-Modal Gridlock"

Rosslyn BID has been building a vibrant multi-modal mixed-used redevelopment New Urbanist-Urban Hipster-Smart Growth luxury enclave in Rosslyn which is in total conformance to the ideals of 21st Century Limousine Liberalism.

Translation - don't earn $300,000 / year...don't live in Rosslyn.

Meanwhile, the Rosslyn BID and the REITs that fund the Rosslyn BID are allowing the Rosslyn streetscape to crumble.

It's a New Day in Vibrant $mart Growth Arlington. Guru of Gridlock Jay Fi$ette has retired from being the go-to guy for $mart Growth planning and Guru of Multi-Modal Gridlock Victor Ho$kin$ is taking over from Jay.

I'm a Democrat and I'm not voting in the June 9th Primary. I am voting for Audrey and Mike in November.

Why can't double deck buses start operating on the Pike on a trial basis?

The survey of County residents which compared Arlington to the "average" city/county in the USA determined that Arlington's streets and roads need comprehensive repairs and upgrades. When will that begin to happen? Where are the paving crews? I don't see any.

Based on the campaign literature I received from 4 of the 6 Democrats running for County Board it appears that at least 2 are running to enrich themselves while on the County Board.

Dorsey and Fallon?

Some blog should look at what Peter Fallon's been doing and not doing the past decade.

Where are the street paving crews? Didn't we approve $72 million for street paving in a bond referendum two years ago?

Audrey Clement was the only candidate who came across as pro-business during the Chamber's Q and A forum.

Ask Christian Dorsey and Peter Fallon how much tax revenue they're going to give APS when they're on the County Board.

Anonymous said...

Like a 55-45 split to APS.

I saw one street paving crew on Wilson Blvd.

I'm voting for Audrey and Mike McMenamin for County Board...skipping the Democratic Primary.

Anyone know if I could just write in Mike and Audrey on June 9th?
