Next Signature Bailout Set for 2017

Hey, Yupette,

Thanks for the report about the massive welfare-for-the-wealthy rip off of the taxpayers to benefit the richey riches who operate the Signature.

Did you happen to read the reports about the PW County Chamber of Commerce boosters contributing major amounts to build a new baseball stadium for the Potomac Nationals? Meanwhile in Arlington, all the Chamber of Commerce can do is ask for handouts from the County Board and plan golf outings and winter gala events. Have you noticed that restaurants are closing every week in the R-B corridor?

FYI - the mega-million bailout of the Signature last week will not be the last Signature bailout. The plan is to give the Signature the old Garage building on South Four Mile Run, which the County owns and agreed last week to lease to the Signature at no cost for the next 5 years, with the County even paying the building's utilities.

The Nauck side of Shirlington is going to be redeveloped soon, so the Signature will own a valuable property. The Signature has no plans to cut expenses and will use funds obtained from naming rights to the theater to keep producing money-losing amateur theatrics to give its VIP members with acting ability stage time.

Like the forthcoming Bikeshare Bailout, the list of demands for the Signature bailouts were worked out not at 2100 Clarendon Blvd but in the living room of Jay Fisette's and Rob Rosen's mansion in Ashton Heights.

Happy Holidays, and thanks for your blog.

Yeah, I can see it now -- Consent Agenda Item 15 of the December 16, 2017 County Board Meeting: "Grant Agreement Between the County Board of Arlington Virginia, Grantor, and the Signature Theater, a Virginia Corporation, Grantee..."

Why is there never an assessment of who gets what from the Signature? How much do the vanity theatrics of the Signature's VIPs cost the Signature?

How much will it cost Arlington's taxpayers to provide HVAC for this old building over the next five years?

I figure the Signature will immediately flip the building to a REIT once the Signature takes possession.

Why is every major issue in this County settled in Jay Fisette's living room? Last one before the Signature bailout was bailing out of the Streetcar.

How much will the Bikeshare Bailout cost us?

Arlington Chamber's leadership has gone from A to B over the last year - from A Big Boob to Big Boobs. Same old dysfunctional Arlington Chamber as always.

Yep. Signature's financial mess is largely the result of "vanity productions".

Do John Vihstadt and Libby Garvey know that this deal was agreed to in Jay Fisette's living room?

Probably not...until now.

What will change in three years? Arlington Republican Party will definitely change. Rather than spending all its time ranting about Obama it will spend all its time ranting about Hillary.

How about...County gives the present Theater and the Garage to the Signature as part of the same giveaway. County Board, County manager, County Attorney are all over 60...why should they care?

Jay is now the Senior Democrat on the County Board and his House and Garden mansion and the Ashton Heights neighborhood are quite impressive. He's completely opted out of the Smart Growth he inflicts on everyone else.

There is considerable resistance to South Four Mile Run Drive being made over into another Shirlington. Residents don't want to have to drive to Alexandria or Bailey's Crossroads to visit a florist shop, auto repair shop, veterinarian, etc.

Everyone in Ashton Heights drives everywhere for everything. Jay doesn't dare tell his upscale neighbors to ride bicycles in the winter.

Yeah....thinking in 2017 may be "What the hell, give Signature the theater and garage and when they piss that Christmas present away, about 2020, we'll give them a $500,000 annual stipend."

Reality Check....County Government can't say no to any special interest group, no matter how wealthy.

Where are the Republicans? You would think they would vocally oppose these gifts to super rich Limo Liberals.

Drive through Jay's neighborhood...Ashton Heights....no bike lanes, no skateboard parks, no in-fill of any kind.

Drive to the area in Alexandria across Quaker Lane from Fairlington. A walkable, driveable, bikeable low density neighborhood with many amenities for residents.

Who's responsible? Not the Dumb Growth so-called "Planners". No the Lindsay Family is responsible. As in Lindsay Cadillac, Lindsay Lexus, etc.

Paulie Ferguson lived in that neighborhood of Fairlington (just across Quaker Lane from Alexandria) while he was on the County Board and Libby Garvey has lived there for more than 30 years.

Arlington Planning Division Director Robert Duffy lives in Alexandria.

How much will we have to spend to bail out Bikeshare?

Incoming Deputy County Manager and Economic Development Director live in D.C.

Incoming Economic Development Director did not want to move to PG, apparently does not want to move to Arlington.

How many residents between 25 and 40 with a lot of disposable income will be left after two years of the Republicans controlling Congress?

Even the Republicans are tired of never ending warfare in the Third World.

I spent $80 to see "Diner" at the Signature. What a waste of money. I'm 70 and grew up in Baltimore in the 50's and 60's. I would love to write a review of "Diner". What a bunch of Urban Hipster drivel.... both the 1982 film and the Signature musical.

South Arlington has been ignored by the county for way to long. I'm glad to see that they are starting the process of redeveloping South Four Mile Run.

County "Planning" Staff in charge of the so-called "planning" of Nauck-Shirlington don't live in Arlington. What else is new?

Where is the neighborhood infrastructure in South Arlington? Like a hardware store? Like a florist? Like a veterinarian? Like a shoe and luggage repair shop?

Same non-resident County "Planning" Staff is getting ready to redevelop neighborhood infrastructure out of Lee Highway.

Signature should hold twice-a-year fundraisers, like its next-door neighbor, WETA. Get off the taxpayer dole.

"Diner" is a taxpayer-funded flop. Only brainwashed sheeple would pay $100 per ticket to see such drivel.

Write a review of "Diner" and A.Y. will print it...arlingtonyupette at yahoo dot com.

Yes. "Diner" is a taxpayer-funded flop. How many more extravagant taxpayer-funded flops at the Signature will the taxpayers fund?

Sheeple are brainwashed by the Post, Sun Gazette, ArlNow, News-Press, etc. which are big boosters of special interests.
