ACDC Insiders: Del. Brink to Retire, Hynes to Replace Brink, Raphael to Replace Hynes

Hi Yupette,

Just heard from a neighbor who's an ACDC insider. Bob Brink is retiring from the House of Delegates. Mary Hynes has had enough of the County Board. Abby Raphael is tired of the School Board.

So decision was made by ACDC insiders to have Bob Brink retire from the House of Delegates and replace Bob with Mary (who would be running for re-election to the County Board next year). ACDC insiders also decided to replace Mary with Abby (who would be running for re-election to the School Board next year).

Since several strong candidates emerged during the last Democratic caucus for School Board, ACDC isn't worried about finding a strong candidate to replace Abby.

Selection of Mary continues the trend over the past decade for Democrats on the School Board  to move to the County Board and County Board Democrats to move on to the General Assembly.

Thanks for your blog.

John Vihstadt spent a lot of time on various PTAs and APS-related committees over the years.

Hmmmm....appears that Abby made a clean break with the other school board members over the 2015 budget.

LOL - Mary can be Arlington's paid lobbyist in the General Assembly for the State funding the Stupid Streetcar. Paid for by the taxpayers.

Yeah, if the Dems put Mary in the House of Delegates ASAP she can immediately start lobbying for State funding for the $tupid $treetcar.

So does that mean that the County Board Majority will forgo federal funding to build the Stupid Streetcar and rely on state funding?

What's the diff between serving on the School Board and serving on the County Board?

School Board: "Waaaaaa....We want our special interest programs".

County Board: "Waaaaaa....We want our special interest programs".

Heard from another ACDC Insider that Abby wants off the School Board ASAP and Mary will not run for re-election next year.

I heard from an ACDC insider that Abby will run for Bob's seat, since her husband is already working for McAuliffe in Richmond and she doesn't want to spend another school year on the School Board.

Last ACDC plans I heard (yesterday):

Abby will resign from the SB and run for House of Delegates.

Mary will not run for re-election in 2015.

Walter will run for re-election in 2015, but that will be his last CB campaign.

One of several former Democratic SB candidates will replace Abby on the SB.

A yet-to-be-selected YD will replace Mary on the CB.

Whomever runs, I will vote for a non-Democrat for County Board.

I heard at the primary on June 10th that Mary will retire.

Abby Raphael? If there were a contest I would nominate her for Arlington Yupette of the Year - 2o14.

Don't the New Urbanists aka ZimmerCrats need Mary Hynes in Richmond ASAP lobbying for the Stupid Streetcar System?

Vihstadt has my vote in November

Abby Raphael has told the Dem blog Blue Virginia that she will NOT be running for Brink's seat.

If Mary Hynes ran for Brink's seat (and won), the special election to fill-out the rest of her CB term would probably be held in conjunction with November's regular general election.

Gotta go with Blue Virginia.

But thanks for giving local Dems the opportunity to guess.

Mary is going to retire, now or in 2015.
