County Would Raid Paygo, Regional, State, Federal Transportation Funding to Pay for Pike Trolley Folly

Hey, Yupette,

It's more than obvious where funding for Chris Zimmerman's Pike Trolley Folly disaster would come from. Take a look at the agreements between the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) and the County approved at Tuesday's County Board meeting (agenda items 32 and 38). They're going to raid every fund that's connected with transportation, and some that aren't, to pay for Chris Zimmerman's streetcar disaster. You saw a couple weeks ago how they lie like cheap rugs when it comes to providing taxpayers with basic information about what the Fisette Aquatic Center will cost. They secretly purchased Ballston Park Apartments on Tuesday - seen a press release about that on the County's Web site? So look for tens of millions to be siphoned from paygo, regional, state, and federal transportation funds to pay for Zimmerman's streetcar.

Ballston Park purchase was a big sweetheart deal with the County Board's pet corporate and non-profit housing organizations, that's why.

Oppose the street car and the aquatics center and stop wasteful spending. The County Board needs to have more balance and fairness. Vote for John Vihstadt for county board! http://www.voteforvihstadt.com/

They only have to siphon off about $30 million per year to pay for a streetcar system on the Pike. How hard could that be when the budget is $1.3 billion?

Hell, it's been costing us $20 million per year because county employees and others who move out of the county are allowed to keep sending their kids to county schools.

They don't need the FTA to fund the Zimmerman streetcar, they could almost steal whatever they need from paygo.

I asked the Department of Environmental Services for a list of street paving projects that occurred during 2013 and the schedule for 2014 street paving, and have been ignored. Who do we have to know to have our street repaved?
