Fifteen Years of Wants-Not-Needs Government in Arlington - Enough

Hi Yupette,

Happy to see an independent is running against whichever Chris Zimmerman clone is selected by Arlington Democrats. After 15 years of wants-not-needs driving County Government, with Jay Fisette and Chris Zimmerman alternately in the driver's seat, it's time to reverse course and fund the basics first, not last.

Chris Zimmerman is getting the gold mine along with his corporate cronies who he'll be working with and for when he leaves the County Board. Jay Fisette already got the gold mine, through his domestic partner's management consulting firm whose clients include dozens of major corporations, many having appeared before the County Board seeking and receiving various gimmes over the years.

Only thing that would make me happier than seeing Chris Zimmerman leave the County Board would be Jay Fisette announce he's also retiring, to become a fund raiser for his pet non-profit arts organizations to take them off the taxpayer dole.

Thanks for your blog.

FYI Milliken family was Jay Fisette's biggest campaign contributor this past election.

Jay and his former domestic partner and now spouse, Rob Rosen, can afford to buy the Signature Theater and run it as a for-profit.

How about - "Gourmet Jay's Signature Dinner Theater"?

Featuring the "Best of Arlington's Backyard Barnyards"?

Who wants to eat dinner while watching yet another $ignature revival of 'Sweeney Todd?

Wants not needs? Like $1 million bus shelters, $450,000 brick wall public art? $1.2 million soccer fields? $1 million softball field, $250,000 taxpayer bailout for the Signature Theater? All placed on the County Board's consent agenda, meeting after meeting.

Gourment Backyard Chicken at the Fi$ette $ignature Dinner Theater. Yum!

How many Zillions will Zimmy be making next year from inflicting $mart Growth upon America?

Milliken's client, Vornado, gets the gold mine, you get 5% to 6% residential real estate increases every year for the next 5 years to help pay for Vornado's gimmes.

Hey Yupette, Bob Atkins died suddenly at home early this week.

Agreed. Zimmerman will spend more time lobbying the County Board next year in the County Board offices for massive Smart Growth urbanization than he ever spent this year in the County Board offices.

County Board only listens to the REITs and their attorneys. And the voices in their heads telling them to spend more on soccer, swimming pools, live theaters, etc. No more Democrats elected to County Board. They've had 30+ years, we can't afford their tax-borrow-spend antics.

Then there's their media facilitators.

Second the Motion: No More So-Called Democrats elected to County Board.

Bob Atkins was another Rust Belt Refugee Rockefeller Republican, FYI.

Seen on another blog: "Chris Zimmerman's Legacy: A diverse and affordable County turned into an expensive mess only people with six-figure incomes can afford".

County Board meetings are a complete charade and whatever is decided is the result of deals made in the County Board offices without any input whatsoever from citizens, except by facilitators from the Democratic party.

FYI, Smart Growth is on a roll across America, further devastating a middle class already badly hurt by the last recession.

"Affordable Housing" is also a huge charade. What the VOICE limo liberals call "affordable housing" is entry level housing for their recent college grad children and grandchildren.

There has been no real affordable housing aka workforce housing constructed in Arlington for at least two decades.

It gets worse. County Board keeps a huge bureaucracy of non-residents employed without any threat of RIFs or layoffs, including at least 50 public relations flacks spread across County government, in return for total obedience the the County Board's whims and wants.

How bad are they? Democrat Libby Garvey, who meets with them in closed session and sees who has the red carpet rolled out for them at the County Board offices, wants nothing to do with the three Democrats who have been picked to engage in a charade party caucus to select Zimmerman's successor.

Yes. Libby Garvey must have seen some pretty horrendous stuff occurring in the CB offices for her to want nothing to do with Zimmerman's hand-picked successors, and the charade party caucus to select one of them.

All Arlington's become is a neighborhood-by-neighborhood urbanization redevelopment opportunity for the County Board's pet out-of-state REITs.

Wonder what's occurring in the CB's closed sessions this week?

Year-end meeting to divvy up the loot from pay-to-play.
