Portland Bike Safety Video Stresses Even-Handed Enforcement

Hi Yupette,

Sorry to see the 'biketards' get away with so much bad behavior in Arlington. Here's the Portland Police Department's recent training video about streetcar-bicycle-motorist-pedestrian traffic ordinance enforcement. Hope it helps.

Again, bicyclists own Arlington's streets and roads. As long as Jay Fisette is elected to County Board we are going to do as we please.

Cindy, thanks for the video. At least the Portland police don't tolerate the worst behavior of the biketards.

Where is the mention of RWI - riding while intoxicated?

Where are the local media? Pitching advertising space to ambulance chasing lawyers.

Local media are as corrupt as the pols...even more corrupt 'cause they shill for the local pols.

Enough Already said...

Time is overdue for the Arlington Police Chief to retire, together with the entire County Board.

Local Media? Every year the 500 watt AM radio station and county newspaper did more for us in our rural county in Pennsylvania than all the local media in and around Arlington have ever done for Arlington residents.

Any day now you will see ads for ambulance chaser personal injury lawyers in the $un Gazette.

Under Portland's traffic enforcement "system" motorists get nailed with a fine for rolling through stop signs, bicyclists do not. Really makes me want to let my kid walk to school, if we're going to have half baked enforcement when there is enforcement at all.

No enforcement action taken against skateboarders coasting down residential streets and people pushing baby and child strollers down residential streets. Both completely illegal.

Amen to all of you! Spot on!

How about a feature about Capital Bikeshare? Another of the County Board's pet special interests that gets a blank check from the County Board that they fill out about every County Board meeting.

The WORST reckless and RWI behavior I have witnessed in Arlington is by people riding Capital Bikeshare rented bicycles.

Capital Bikeshare? More 'Democratic Values in Action'. Another little group from ACDC that gets millions from the taxpayers. Makes the Signature look like a kids' neighborhood lemonade stand.

Reckless Endangerment? How about a Yuppie Mommy dressed in black pushing a black 3-wheeled stroller down the middle of the street a half hour after sunset? Happens all the time in Arlington's residential neighborhoods.

Kids need organ transplants too.

From a driver's perspective all the 'safety' videos suck. There are many bicyclists riding RWI, talking on cell phones, even texting while riding. Nothing ever mentioned about that behavior.

Time for the local media $hills for the $tatus quo to move on, together with the county board and police chief ---- $cott McCaffrey, $cott Broadbeck, Ja$on $pencer.

Economic Bubble? News from DOD yesterday: U.S. Army plans big cutbacks.

The 250 watt AM station and tiny local newspaper in my hometown in northern Iowa were locally owned and the owners were very generous to local citizens and organizations. The idea that Arlington is an "urban village" is pure bunkum. Everyone here who has any kind of economic, social, or political power is out to make as much money as they can any way they can and then move away to retire in places that are nothing like Arlington.

Why don't the safety videos show the biketards getting on their bikes and heading for home after an evening of playing beer pong?

That's for sure! And if you give them a soft honk just to warn them so nothing bad happens, the elitist entitles sows give the stink-eye or the one-finger salute!

I've seen it and I've seen a number of close calls because of it. Natch, the cyclist gets the attitude and flips off when something nearly happens or even if they're just warned to prevent something bad from happening. The cyclist-Lance-Armstrong-wannabe yuptards think they own the place and are entitled to do as the damn well please.

Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church were NEVER designed to be urban. Our streets and roads were NEVER designed for heavy bicycle use. Columbia Pike was NEVER designed to support streetcar use. That is what we got for electing and Yuptards like Fisette and Zimmerman who keep imposing their Yuptard junk on a suburban County.

Given Chris Zimmerman's pay-to-play consulting activities with sleazy pols in and around Montreal and Jay Fisette's pay-to-play activities involving his domestic partner's consulting firm and access to the County Board, what is needed is for a grand jury to sort out their activities over the past several years.

Anyone see the give away contract between the County and Capital Bikeshare? Yes, it makes the Signature bail out look like small change.

Sheesh said...

I can do you one better, Yuppie Daddy pushing a black stroller down the middle of the street dressed in camoflage clothing after dark

And after a grand jury, a public trial exposing every bit of corruption and then a cold damp prison cell for 20-30 years.

Nah...they would get sent up the Susquehanna to Allenwood for 3-5 years of milking cows and living in a nice dorm with some Wall Street scammers. Would be tough on Zimmerman having to get up at 4 AM every morning to do the milking, first time in 20 years that he would be working.

The Portland video is the best of the police training videos...most blame the drivers of motor vehicles for not having 360 degree vision, instant reflexes, and vehicles that can decelerate from 25 to 0 mph in 5 feet.

The local media in the D.C. area never did anything for anybody unless there was money in it for them.

Anonymous said...

Local Media Nannies like McCaffrey, will be ranting about strollers in the street when someone wearing black from head to toe is hit while pushing a stroller down the street an hour after dark.

Anonymous said...

The Nanny Media allow bad things to happen, then hype the hysteria when bad things happen.

Arlington was never designed for every special interest's infrastructure project.

Speaking of infrastructure, the lights are still out in half of South Arlington after a summer afternoon thunderstorm passed through.
