Donnellan Playing 3-Card Monte With Street Paving Funds

Hey Yupette,

My neighbors and I were promised by DES that our crumbling residential street would be repaved this Spring. Called DES to find out when this Spring. Turns out, after calling around DES, that our street won't be repaved until "sometime after June 30th". Why? The County Board's pressing wants are forcing the County Manager to shift funds from infrastructure needs to the County Board's pet projects (Artisphere, Arlington Mill, synthetic field replacement, etc.) until at least the end of FY 13 and possibly longer. I thought we approved bond funds for street repaving last year. Where are the street repaving funds going?

Thanks for your blog.

Karen, S. 34th Street

You ain't seen nothin' yet. Wait until they start moving tens of millions around to pay for their stupid streetcar.

I have to wonder how much and how often the Local Media (Sun Gazette, Patch, ArlNow, and Mercury) are being paid off to 'look the other way'.

Scott McCaffrey gets to keep warming a chair at Chamber of Commerce BOD meetings by printing the PR Diana Sun sends him.

Mentor for Arlington Media is Grand Exalted Chamber of Commerce Wizard Plenipotenary Nick Benton, Publisher of the Falls Churcah News-Press.

Street repaving funds are vacationing in Liectenstein, having already visited the Cayman Islands twice and Switzerland once this year.

What's Frank O'Leary doing, besides planning for the U.S.S Somerset County commissioniong and petitioning the Navy to build another transport ship aka love boat named the "U.S.S Boston Marathon"?

Hey, the kids need another gold-plated soccer stadium. Their wants come first.

You mean - Nick "Take Our Residential Neighborhoods for High-Density Redevelopment, Please" Benton. What a jerk.

Kids are also getting a new gold plated football stadium at Wakefield HS.

One of the most deteriorated streets in S. Arlington is a couple hundred feet from Scott McCaffrey's rancho deluxe.

What's the County Manager's office, a casino? Aren't there enough of those already?

Frank participated in a charade with the County Board last week called "We can't invest tax revenue outside the County, we need to keep moving it around here so the County can appear to be solvent".

For a list of places where the County Board will waste money in FY 14, go to Item 34 on the County Board's agenda for the May 18th meeting.

They only have to play the shell game 6 more weeks, until July 1st. For this calendar year anyway.

Barbara Donnellan is pulling a Ponzi scheme variation where "old money" from previous fiscal years is moved around to cover current expenses?

Is bond money being used for projects that it was not appropriated for? Who is auditing to determine what is going in? Is there any significant auditing capability in the County Manager's Office?

Best we can determine there is massive moving of revenue among accounts without any regard to how the tax revenue and bond funds were and are supposed to be spent.

Internal auditing at 2100? WHAT internal auditing?

Frank O'Leary...what a Pu$$y...Prediction...Frank and Ingrid will be indicted by a federal grand jury along with at least three who are currently serving on the County Board.

Hopefully.....Soon

Ain't that the truth!

I'd hope that comes soon. It is long, long, long overdue. It seems sometimes that Arlington is more like a banana republic with an elite oligarchy in charge than what I was raised to believe was the United States.

As long as they are so far gone on playing Three Card Monte with revenues, why don't they just "borrow" FY 14 funds this fiscal year?

Anonymous said...

Isn't that called 'tax anticipation financing'? Anyone know if the they are already borrowing against FY 14 tax revenue?

Then there is the current Kubicki Theater production of "We'll tell you all about their shenanigans, but don't let anyone know the information came from the Republican Party".

Their legal defense will be: the bond rating firms made us do it.

Anonymous said...

No, their defense will be "We couldn't say no to the wants of the Yuptard Elite".

How much would it cost them to borrow $50 million for two months, and who would know they borrowed $50 million for two months?

Anonymous said...

Called DES again...they are still giving me the run-around about when my street will be repaved.

Great that Libby Garvey opposes the stupid streetcar. What does she do besides that on the CB except for voting with Zimmy about 95% of the time?

Anonymous said...

Answer to borrowing $50 mil against next FY tax revenues, next to nothing and they would bury the loan so no one would know about it.

Anonymous said...

Libby's greatest accomplishment on the CB - voting against Boss Zimmerman 5% of the time.

Kubicki Theater? I have to wonder if the bipartisan crew that runs Arlington will take a bipartisan tour this summer to stash their loot offshore while visiting one of more "Sister Cities"?
