Show Us What State-of-the Art BRT Looks Like - Put the Vegas BRT on the Pike

Hey Yupette,

Thanks to Peter Rousselot for winning the argument for putting bus rapid transit on the Pike at Wednesday's Committee of 100 meeting. Since the local media largely function as shills for the status quo, developers, local chambers of commerce, and various special interests it's time for Arlington residents, taxpayers, and voters to see what competing bus and streetcar systems look like - and we're obviously not going to be informed by the local media.

So how about bringing a Vegas BRT to the Pike for a few weeks? Let us see how flexible BRT is - no dedicated lanes required. Let us, not the out-of-state REITs like Vornado, decide what's best for us. Thanks for showing us the YouTube videos of the Vegas BRT.

If a referendum cannot be held how about a secret ballot "transit caucus" at Kenmore Middle School for an up or down vote on the Pike streetcar?

Anonymous said...

Yes, hold an up or down referendum as a "transit caucus" on two days, have the CivFed or Committee of 100 supervise the voting, one photo or non-photo ID required to vote.

'Let us, not the out-of-state REITs like Vornado determine what's best for us'. You got that right! There are more non-residents pushing the Pike streetcar than Carter has peanuts!

Anonymous said...

I am appalled by the number of non-residents who are making major decisions in this county.

Hey, Yupette, FTA just said NO to funding Zimmy's trolley folly.

Anonymous said...

How about arranging with the manufacturer of the Vegas ACE bus to have a demo BRT on the Pike a few weeks this Summer?

Anonymous said...

Local media are indeed shills for the Regime and its corporate cronies.

Anonymous said...

Where are they going to get $$$ for their stupid streetcar now? Wash Post reported today that WMATA wants to spend mega millions in capital funds for Metrorail station makeovers.

Anonymous said...

Thank You, Peter Rousselot.

Enough is Enough. STOP ALL PIKE STREETCAR PLANNING IMMEDIATELY !!!

Isn't it obvious? The Federal Transit Administration decided that four County Board members are de facto juvenile delinquents.

Time for Jay Fisette to announce he is retiring from the County Board, concomitant with the income he and his domestic partner made millions over the past decade from their 'pay to play' activities.

Time for Chris Zimmerman to announce he's retiring from the County Board to 'pursue transportation consulting interests'.

Time for the County Board to announce the resignations of the following non-residents: County Manager Barbara Donnellan, County Attorney Steve MacIssac, County Board Clerk Hope Halleck, Economic Development Director Terry Holzheimer, CPHD Director Robert Brosnan, Police Chief Douglas Scott, and Planning Division Director Robert Duffy.

Dennis Leach should be the first to go.

Never mind that...I want a Federal Grand Jury looking into their decade-long wheeling, dealing, and stealing.

Anonymous said...

They can't fire anyone...have to find them a cushy job elsewhere or else they will go squealing to the Feds about the wall-to-wall corruption at 2100.

'Local media largely function as shills'. True. If they didn't Zimmerman's trolley folly would have gone nowhere and we would have 21st Century bus service already on the Pike. Thank you Scott McCaffrey, Scott Brodbeck, Jason Spencer, and Steve Thurston - NOT.

I want Zimmerman's Minister of Propaganda Diana Sun fired and the outrageously expensive Propaganda Ministry in the County Manager's office dismantled.

Anonymous said...

True. True. The local media are spoon-fed Zimmerman's propaganda which they repackage and use to help Zimmy brainwash the sheeple.

Anonymous said...

Same media who hyped the Bush-Cheney claims Saddam had weapons of mass destruction a decade ago.

Anonymous said...

Employees in the County Manager's office who post propaganda to the ArlNow blog should get the boot along with Diana Sun.

Anonymous said...

Feds said it, I believe it, that settles it...No Streetcar on the Pike!

Anonymous said...

Enough of the Streetcar. How many million has this already cost Arlington taxpayers? The feds want nothing to do with it.

Bring a Federal Anti-Corruption Strike Force and a Federal Anti-Corruption Grand Jury into this County...ASAP!

Start with investigating "Pay to Play Jay" and his domestic partner "Rob".

Anonymous said...

Jay Fisette is 10X more corrupt than Zimmy. He and his domestic partner set up a revolving 'pay to pay' door between his domestic partner's consulting firm and the county board offices that made them millions over the past decade.

Amen, amen, and amen! Throw the bums out, clean house, and get some non-corrupt people who actually live in Arlington, know and genuinely care about the people who live here, serve the real people as they're supposed to do and have term limits - two terms at most. Then they move on and the door opens for new people to take their slots.

That gets my vote for sure!!

Right on and hell to the yes!

Anonymous said...

Agree - time for term limits - 8 years on the County Board is plenty of time to do something positive.

Anonymous said...

I want to see a list of Fisette's domestic partner's consulting clients. Besides Boeing which received a huge corporate welfare gift from the County Board.

Anonymous said...

How about Dominion? Wonder why there is almost no solar in Arlington? Ask Jay and his domestic partner why not.

Anonymous said...

Jay and Rob should be pursuing other interests - like milking cows together at 5 AM at the Allenwood Federal Correction Facility.

Anonymous said...

Scott McCaffrey is well-known for accepting gifts, gratuities, and gimmes for years, in addition to being a shill for the chamber of commerce and the realtors.

We don't have journalism in Arlington, we have a bunch of newsies printing press releases.

Anonymous said...

"Journalism"? Anyone see the Post yesterday? Pathetic.

Anonymous said...

'We don't have journalism in Arlington, we have a bunch of newsies printing press releases'.

You got that right!

Anonymous said...

Send the so-called "journisists' to Vegas and have then report on the Vegas BRT. Can't do that, Diana Sun won't allow it!

Anonymous said...

Why stop with Zimmy and Fisette.....Nada Tejada has more money parked in El Salvador than Juan Valdez has coffee beans.

Anonymous said...

Diana $un has the local news blogs pu$$ywhipped.

2100 too said...

No...she and others in the County Manager's office have (again) illegally threatened the local media with loss of access to County Government VIPs and loss of ad revenue if they post any information about transit alternatives to streetcars on the Pike.

County Board meeting is this Saturday. Public comments start at 8:30 AM.

Give the boot to non-resident Assistant County Manager for Zimmerization Diana Sun before anyone else.

Anonymous said...

County Manager is responsible for what occurs in the County Manager's office. Don't like what's occurring - e-mail her - countymanager at arlingtonva.us

Anonymous said...

If Arlington's government weren't corrupt a cool looking BRT would already be carrying passengers up and down the Pike.

Anonymous said...

Post isn't as pathetic as the blogs, almost all of which have become $hills for the $tatu$ quo.

Anonymous said...

What a bunch of disgusting, self-serving hypocrites you are.

If you are so wedded to BRT, put your money where your mouth is and bring it to the Pike for show.

Zimmercrats Suck...Here's Why said...

Coming from a Zimmercrat piece of $hit who is all for installing another 23 million-dollar taxpayer rip off "bus shelters" on the Pike, that's some statement.

Anonymous said...

Always plenty of $$$$$$$ for their pet vanity bus shelter, wasn't there?

Anonymous said...

They're spending almost a million to renovate one synthetic surface playing field. One bid contract.

Anonymous said...

How much got spent on producing drawings depicting streetcars on the Pike? A million? Two million? And we have to visit this blog to see what modern BRT even looks like? Time to stop the streetcar insanity.

Anonymous said...

I want to know who were the planner, architect, consultant, construction company, utilities contractor, etc. for the Pike superstops project, all 23 of them.

Anonymous said...

While we're at it, how many were/are clients of Healthy Companies International?

Anonymous said...

For the amount already wasted and mismanaged the County could have bought ten Las Vegas BRT vehicles and had them running on the Pike in a month.

Anonymous said...

Too much cronyism, too many envelopes stuffed with cash handed to VIP decision makers, too much waste and mismanagement...boot them all out, starting with Fisette and before him give Donellan her retirement papers.
