Streetcar Town Hall Meeting Tonight at Kenmore Middle School

Hello,

Just to remind everyone that the County Board is holding it's Streetcar Town Hall Meeting tonight at Kenmore Middle School (Carlin Springs Road at Route 50) between 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM. An open Q and A session is supposed to be scheduled between 7:45 and 8:55.

What Arlington taxpayers, voters, and residents SHOULD be seeing tonight are alternatives to streetcars in the Kenmore parking lot - BRT and advanced bus vehicles. We should be presented with information about ALL transit options on the Pike, not just what the County Board and its out-of-state REIT corporate cronies want us to see.

Please attend and bring signs, placards, and questions about the dangerous, expensive, and inefficient streetcar system we don't need and can't afford. We are attaching a badge you can print and wear tonight. See you there.

A.Y.

Good point - let's see some of these bus rapid transit and other bus vehicles on display and driven around the Pike.

If you think the $1 million Walter Reed bus shelter was an outrageous waste of tax dollars, wait until you see $400 - $500 million wasted on Zimmerman's Pike streetcar system.

I am attending and I will have zero tolerance for any more nonsense from the County Board. We've had 15 years of lies from Zimmerman. Enough already.

Same old pro-streetcar charade tonight by the County Board and County Staff minus Libby Garvey.

Fisette, Hynes, Tejada and Zimmerman don't want to talk about state-of-the-art Bus Rapid Transit on the Pike.

Yupette, how about links to some YouTube Vegas streetcar videos? Arlington County Government sucks. Last night's streetcar meeting proves they're ALL (except for Libby Garvey) shills for the REITs and developers.

How about County Government sponsoring a new Sister City - Las Vegas - and sending a delegation to ride the Vegas BRT and double deck buses?

Oh, can't do that, might pee off the REITS and developers.

There is no reason why a Vegas BRT and double deck bus cannot be displayed at the next 'streetcar' meeting, except the REITs that control the County won't allow it. I can always drive to Baltimore or Philly to ride a streetcar and see what those are like.

How much are these Yuppie crazes costing us? Dogs, bicycles, streetcars...?

Send Barbara Donnellan to Vegas...one way. Let her gamble her own money there, not gamble ours away here.

In case you missed it, pro-streetcar employees from the County Manager's office got to choose who would ask the questions.

Members of the pro-streetcar group are being paid (in cash) by the corporate streetcar promoters to engage in 'dirty tricks' against the anti-streetcar group.
