U.S.S. Arlington Commissioning - Major League Pay-to-Play Opportunity

Hey Yupette,

Hey, ReitsDudes, want to go from being a Player to being a Big Dog in the Realm of Development and Re-Development in Arlington County? Be prepared to cough up big bucks supporting the U.S.S. Arlington Commissioning scheduled for April 6th in Norfolk. All of Arlington's Major League Movers and Shakers will be there, so if you want your future site plan to receive consideration from the County Board you should be in Norfolk the weekend of April 6th, moving and shakin' too.

This car tax sticker program cost $100,000 for unnecessary annual printing and mailing, not to mention the tons of plastic and paper waste the program generates every year.

I'm more than happy to help Jay Fisette and Rob Rosen and their corporate clients at Healthy Companies International support the the U.S.S. Arlington Corporate Welfare Gimmee Festival in Norfolk on April 6th.

Chris, and Jay. My corporate checkbook is always open to your opportunities for more and better gentrification opportunities aka "Smart Growth" in Arlington.

Major League? News Media are, as always, looking for Major League Comps: food, drinks, hotel rooms, adult escorts, pre-written PR news articles, etc., from this event. Don't disappoint us or I will be forced to give you a Thumbs Down in my paper's April 11th edition.

Oh, my Miata needs a Major League tune up so Visa gift cards are, as always, appreciated.

Shooshan Companies are a major sponsor, according to the U.S.S. Arlington Web site.

Media? Development? Latest Big Dog developer is the Wash Post Company.

Anyone know how many County Board Meetings in the County Board offices (code-named "Staff Meetings") have been held to facilitate U.S.S. Arlington pay-to-play events?

Anonymous said...

At least a dozen.

Anonymous said...

Oh, while money is being spent lavishly on this event the County Manager's Office has posted flyers around 2100 asking for ideas about how to raise a few hundred thousand (in county with a $1.2 billion budget) to restore the Reeves farmhouse.

Anonymous said...

How about - the developer who spends the most on pay-to-play in Newport News gets to restore the Reeves farmhouse in return for building a dozen McMansions on the Reeves property?

Anonymous said...

Wild guess? Shooshan gets to restore the Reeves farmhouse in return for in-filling the surrounding land with McMansions.

U.S.S. Arlington and similar ships are going to be used for future war fighting in Third World countries.

Anonymous said...

U.S.S. Arlington has already cost Arlington taxpayers at least $1 million for the time County employees have spent planning events related to the construction, launching, and commissioning of the ship.

Hey Yupette, it was U.S.S Arlington Pay to Play Day at the Virginia General Assembly yesterday.

Washington Gas a major league U.S.S. Arlington mega corporate booster of an event that's going to look like the corporate attendance at the Super Bowl? Another piece in the puzzle - why so little renewable energy in Arlington County?

Ridge Runner said...

Wonder how much Vornado is contributing to the event in order to facilitate its urbanization of Arlington Ridge?

Jay and Rob's major corporate client, Northrup-Grumman, built the U.S.S Arlington before N-G sold its shipbuilding business 18 months ago.

Anyone know the hotel in or around Norfolk where the Big Dogs are going to hang out?

Anonymous said...

U.S.S. Arlington has cost Arlington taxpayers a lot more than $1 million in County employee staff time.

Anonymous said...

FYI, the Big Dog Movers and Shakers had another big pre-commissioning party over the weekend in Richmond.

Anonymous said...

U.S.S. Arlington needs about 25 feet of water to operate, so it's unlikely the ship will ever visit DC or Alexandria.

Anonymous said...

Sheraton and/or Marriott in Newport News.

Anonymous said...

Maybe if it's very lightly loaded, but the Wash Post Company is selling Robinson Terminal, so who knows if oceangoing ships will be docking in Alexandria in the future.

How many $20 commissioning coins does my company have to buy before we are considered "Big Dogs"?

Anonymous said...

I gotta wonder how many corporate dogs of all sizes Rob and Jay have been hitting up for 'pay to play' clients and contributions for Healthy Companies and Jay's re-election?

Navy Leaguer said...

Any corporation that wants to be viewed as a Friend of the U.S.S. Arlington should expect to purchase at least 1,000 commissioning coins.

Who is the go-to guy/gal I need to contact so my company can become a player on the development and redevelopment scene in Arlington?

Anonymous said...

Just, you know, become a developer and start giving to the movers and shakers and their favorite charities and events. Worked for us.

When does my street get repaved? Jay Fisette wants me to ride a bicycle over cracks and potholes? No way.

NY Reit Dude said...

I want to know how much I have to contribute for them to hold a private County Board meeting for my company.

Anonymous said...

Ask Rob at Healthy Companies for a free consultation......

Anonymous said...

END the stupid vehicle decal program ASAP...waste of time...waste of tax dollars.

Anonymous said...

How much is this ongoing U.S. Arlington Gala costing the taxpayers?

Happy the ship is apparently too big to sail up the Potomac to Alexandria or DC or else we would be paying a million for another home port gala.

Anonymous said...

FYI - Arlington County Manager just announced job cuts and a tax hike.

Anonymous said...

How about the REITs pick up the entire tab...oh, and Jay Fisette and his domestic partner and their corporate cronies can write checks for a million each.

Anonymous said...

If the U.S.S. Arlington were lightly loaded it might be able to navigate the Potomac River channel up to Alexandria, don't know about DC.

Anonymous said...

No problema, Jim Moran appropriates $200 million to dredge the Potomac River channel up to the Navy Yard.

Anonymous said...

I think the U.S. Arlington is too big for the Potomac channel, dredged to 30 feet or not.

Anyone from the commissioning committee contacted Kathie Lee to do a public service promo video?

Anonymous said...

Maybe they can ask Fred Grandy, what's he doing now, anyway?

Anonymous said...

Don't Ask Don't Tell era is over, how about The Village People as the opening act?

LOL said...

Fred Grandy as Emcee introing The Village People? LOL.

Anonymous said...

Sponsored by Dittmar Hitt Vornado.

Anonymous said...

Alas, appears Kathie Lee has joined the former Love Boat crew on the S.S. Nancy Reagan.

Anonymous said...

Yo, can it be February 1998 again...PLEASE ???

Anonymous said...

Second the motion...1998 deja vu all over again..A S A P !!

Anonymous said...

Meanwhile our beloved Presidente is playing Chicago Pol (what else is new) with the federal workforce.

Anonymous said...

Exactly what is the benefit to Arlington taxpayers? A negative benefit. We pay for their extravagances, whether car tax decals or millions for staff time to prepare for their galas.

Anonymous said...

What a bunch of urban village idiots, Congress and President playing chicken over big federal budget cuts and County Board is going on with its extravagances.

Anonymous said...

Donnellan's proposed budget apparently contains a 3.2 cent increase in the real estate tax rate for 2013.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, and my condo association will increase condo fees by 3.2% to cover the County's increased fees for everything. When does it end?
